Long story short, trying to get headbolts out of a 2000 Vectra, 2.2 Petrol sri, Z22SE engine.

The socket i have isnt right, its slightly too big and im not going to chance it. Im going to borrow a socket and proper good wrench of someone who lives quite far away.

What is the exact size of the bolt? Would an autodata book tell me what mm they are? I could go and measure but all ive got is a ruler... laugh

If anyone knows, or has a data book that tells me the exact size, i would be in your debt smile

Surely the right size socket won't be any more than 1-2mm smaller than the one you've already tried?

Just buy a couple, or a complete set. You can never have too many tools!

Use an adjustable spanner, then gently take it off and use the ruler to measure it.

You're not using imperial or 12-sided sockets are you?

My x22xe has torx T55 headbolts,I would think your engine might be the same . Just a thought, have you made sure there is no oil/sludge in the top of the bolt head stopping your socket from seating properly?
PS you will need new bolts any way so why not order the tool along with the bolts, it might be cheaper than driving a long way just to borrow a tool.

Thats all i've got, and why im not willing to risk using it and damaging the head. Getting the standard 6 sided one from a family member.
