You want to try driving an artic up the motorway when it`s foggy or lashing down and the plonkers don`t use lights, esp. those in either very dark or silver cars.

I do drive artics..

I couldn't agree with you more. I had one the other day in a silver car, very wet road, only saw it when it was along side me!

It had no lights on at all.. Brain dead morons!

Why dont lorrys have rear lights twice the size of normal cars,
what with spray and road grim covering them,i would thought it would be
a real safety issue

Why?

If someone smashes into the back of a 44 tonne artic, do you think the driver will even notice?

Oh, that wasn't what you meant...

This is probably why DRLs have been introduced.

I blame dashboards the wives Honda has a dashboard which is brightly lite up.

In the olden days if instrument lights are on then headlights are on.

I don't think the number of cars with auto lights and wipers helps. Another example of modern cars not quite compensating for the hard of thinking!

Again yesterday i just couldn't believe the amount of idiots with no lights on or just side lights! Headlights should be used to be SEEN, not just to see. When people around you start using their lights and you don't then you are making yourself invisable, why can't drivers understand the basics of this? In the car i use my lights most of the time, for what it costs extra in fuel and bulbs (which is minimal) i'd rather be seen. It's little suprise that DRLs are being introduced, great idea but it'll make more people in pre DRL cars invisable.

It's genuinely staggering, people just don't get it- I'm sure you can see other people coming, however it is an advantage to be SEEN as well, therefore put your fecking lights on!

I have them on nearly all the time in the Mazda for obvious reasons, however I can't see why people find it so difficult- Either no lights, or blazingsuperxenonfogs on!

Driving home last night at 5:10pm. Its only a 4 mile drive but saw 3 cars with only side lights on. This is on a road without street lights and large high trees.

The obvious answer to people (idiots) driving with just side lights on is because of the financial climate we are now living in. We all need to save money on electric, so, sidelights are cheaper to run than dipped beams......simples! Oh, and it takes SO much more effort to flick the light stalk onto dipped beam...poor souls.

I drove about all day with my headlights on - it just didn't seem to get fully light today.

Rain was torrential while on the motorway and the number of cars with no lights on was surprising.

Bloke at our place actually believes that side lights are ok because he can see where he is going because the street lights are on and headlight bulbs cost more to replace than side light bulbs.I replaced main, dip, fog, and side with `white light` bulbs,8 in total for all of £16 of ebay. Sorry but if you cannot afford to replace even a headlight bulb you should sell the damn car.

i concur! This winter I have really started noticing people not having their lights on! Just in the past couple of days on my early morning commute (i'm talking 5.30am), I saw a council Transit with only 1 dipped beam and one foglight working, and then I saw a person with only one light working. Not mention numerous others with sidelights/foglights, just, sidelights etc
How does it not occur to them, that if they can't see in front of the bonnet where a pool of light usually is, MAYBE they should check their lights?
Morons the lot of them - I always have mine one. I used to flash them to advise them, but now I just cant be bothered!

What amazes me even more is the amount of vans with no rear lights, i`ve spotted at least 5 this week alone.
