£12k is ridiculous. Sure, it's in great condition and has fairly low milage, and would be a good collectors piece. But it's no more than £5k worth really. It'll be a long time sat in a shed not being driven before it's genuinely worth £12k, which I wouldn't really wish on any GTI. I bet there's enough already in dry storage just sitting there waiting to appreciate. Cars this common don't just all vanish. Speculators realise they are appreciating and hold on to them.

If you can find me another in that condition for 2k I will give you profit on it. Strong money I agree, but how many can be left in that original condition and mileage - I think it is certainly worth close to the asking to someone.

there have been a few 20 odd k mile ones around the £5500 mark - one in devon i nearly bought but they don't sell. this one in devon hasn't sold and he wouldn't come under the £5k mark so i left it.
ridiculously overpriced sadly.
if it was a 1.9 gti phase 2 non cat in miami blue with non sunroof and had 0 miles on the clock and it was dealer stored in a museum and had every mot and piece of history and it had been fully brought up to speed with an overhaul for say £5k then it could be worth £9k at a push.
