What tyres? (sorry!)
Discussion
I know this is a theme repeated a lot, but it's usually for relatively fast metal or about winter tyres, so any advice is appreciated!
I have a voucher thing which gives me 25% off of 4 'Premium' tyres from Kwik Fit. A search on their website shows that the only ones that they have in my car's size (155/80 T13) are:
Pirelli P3000
Continental Eco Contact 3
Dunlop Street Response
All tyres are similarly priced. I wondered if anybody has any experience with any of them? What I'm after ideally is good grip in the wet and reasonable longetivity. The car is a 1.4 Astra mk2, used mostly for town or motorway driving, with a bit of B roads thrown in
If anybody has any different ideas please put them forward I don't have huge pots of money to play with.

Can't find any reviews on the Pirellis, but I seem to recall people saying excellent on lightweight cars rubbish on heavier ones? Is anybody else able to verify this please?
In which case I'll probably go for them, Astra's sub 900kg so can't go wrong. I'm sure my dad has them on his Fabia

I think you're thinking about the P6000 - they're pants on light cars and good on heavy ones.
The 206 is similar weight to the Mk2, so I recon the P3000 would be fine. The 206 I was referring to had the P3000 replaced with Dunlops which were crap. It later had Firestone Multihawk fitted which were still worse than the P3000.

Ok, got browsing on Camskill as recommended and came across these:

Uniroyal Rainexperts. Reviews seem incredibly positive, can anybody clarify this? If not will probably be the Pirelli's.

Well, coincidentally I got a pair on my car yesterday, when I took my winters off. I've only driven 10 miles, so can't really comment on them. I'll be able to comment better by Monday, I have a fair bit of driving to do today and tomorrow.
Be very careful.
Its still only January. So you might want to buy winter tyres just in case the weather gets bad again.
Or you might want to get summer tyres in case we get an early heatwave.
Think by the nonsense on here the tyre manufacturers are missing a trick - a whole new range could be in the offing spring tyres, summer tyres, autumn tyres, winter tyres.
Or for the real worriers, January tyres, February tyres, March tyres and so on

How about an all-season tyre? Its still only January. So you might want to buy winter tyres just in case the weather gets bad again.

You're the only person I know with a Mk2 Astra. I've never seen one for years.
Well done!

Out of interest, how much does the voucher save you?
And you'll no doubt end up coming out with a new exhaust and brakes too if you're not careful
I'd stick to CamSkill\blackcircles

Quite funny you should say that... back from there just now for a new bracket. All the bits for the old one were there, just hanging off. They charged...
nothing Said no parts were needed so don't worry about it They're actually alright in my local one (although the other two I've had experiences with are a different story...)

I wish my local chain was alright, I'm still yet to find a decent garage around here - got one near work mind.

I fitted Vredestein Quatrac 3 to my car, great in the snow and ice, pants in the wet and dry, get some decent summers
well, just done 120 miles since I last posted. Unclassified road, on to B roads, some A roads, motorway and back on to A road and in to an urban area. Severe rain (weather warning here and wipers on full speed the whole way).
The RainExperts are excellent, considering there's only 130 miles on them. Easily as good as the Bridgestone Turanza ER300 on the back as far as grip and water handling is concerned, but very much quieter.
I can thoroughly recommend the RainExperts going by the limited use so far.
I'm running 205-55/16 91V on a Mk3 Mondeo.
