Hello all,

I have cruise control ( CC) on my land Cruiser.
I am eble to engage my CC down to 27 mph.
However, even some times, this is too fast.
Is there a way to have it reprogrammed,, for example, to engage as low as 6 - 7 mph.

Some times in a long, bad off road track, I want to keep a steady slow speed, and can not do this until I reach 27 mph.

What is your lowest 'engage' speed for CC

Assuming your land cruiser is diesel, it should have a hand throttle/nob for this purpose.
It's located below the steering column.

Think that the standard setting for most cars is just under 30MPH.

Never thought about needing it any lower. Problem is usually having to slow down to avoid running into the back Middle Lane Owners' Club members before there is a gap in lane 3 to overtake.

.
It's newer than throttle cables and pull out knobs.
This what leads me to think it could simply be a case of Mr Toyota plugging in his gubbins, and resetting the minimum cruise speed.

Well, thats what I hope he could do.

On the Vectra it would be engaged as low as 6mph IIRC.

Could you not just nudge it up a gear and leave it at tickover?

Autobox.
It will idle along a flat level road at around 4 mph.
Some thing a little faster than that would be ideal.

I would have thought cruise control at very low speed would be a bad idea in case of wheelspin. It's the same reason why cruise control is a bad idea on a wet road. If you get slip on a wheel and your vehicle's speed drops, it'll add more power to increase speed, which won't help so it'll add more power etc...

I think you'll find most cruise control systems deactivate the moment the ESP or TC is activated, least my old Astra GSi did that

That's a good point. Does this mean we can use cruise control in the wet? I'm new to it, having just bought my first car with it fitted.

Switch aircon on as that usually causes the tickover rpm to raise slightly.

On my DS3 it's 25mph (or 40km/h)in 4th or 5th. On my old Alfa 147 the cruise control could be engaged at 20mph or above in any gear!

I use CC on my P38 Range rover at ~20mph, when driving through Richmond Park.
