... so recently I have noticed that I rarely see any 'interesting' cars on my commute. Nothing exciting, that makes me think: I want or I need.

But today I was surprised that stuck behind lorry over taking another lorry and some Citroen estate in front of me. So lorry pulls over and I'm ready for this beige Citroen to pick up the pace a little and pull over allowing me to get up to speed (70mph).

However, to my surprise this car pulls away quite quickly from a 50mph upwards noted the registration and checked it turns out it was a 'CITROEN C5 EXCLUSIVE V6 HDI AUTO ESTATE 2720cc (15-05-2008)' wasn't aware that they had a V6 diesel and was impressive turn of pace.

I don't have kids or dog or any real requirement for a rep mobile but fair play to this chaps choice. Just to clarify it still not on my wish list of cars but is it sad that this is now what I consider an 'interesting car'.

Citroen used to use the 3 litre V6 diesel as also used in the Vectra, too.

2.7 V6 also used in the 407 Coupe IIRC. It has a reasonable turn of pace!

ALso used in:
* 2004 Jaguar S-Type
* 2005 Land Rover Discovery
* 2005 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
* 2005 Peugeot 607
* 2005 Peugeot 407 coupé
* 2006 Peugeot 407
* 2006 Jaguar XJ
* 2006 Citroën C6
* 2007 Jaguar XF
* 2008 Citroën C5

It's the standard PSA V6 diesel as also fitted in one form or another to various Jags/LRs etc. Now upgraded from 2.7l to 3.0l in current models.

EDIT: beaten to it! Tempting to look at them once residuals fall to buggery, but emissions levels are fairly high compared to comparable German diesels, even with the newer 3.0, so VED is a wee bit higher than one might like...

I remember seeing a black VW R36 Passat estate a while back, I didn't even know such a car existed until I was reading the badge on the front grill and watching it cross a roundabout in front of me! They are pretty damn rare although apparently popular as undercover police cars several forces across the country having two or three. Not something I'd consider buying, it's probably not all that fast or that great handling, but for a practical car with a bit of a lick of speed and that "Don't see one of those every day" factor it's up there.

Had a taxi one of these in Luxembourg a bit ago. A surprising turn of speed and impressive engine. It was the 2.7 version and I believe they do thte 3.0 now! But depreciation suicide though, a big engined Citroen is never going to hold it's value. Interesting and rare though.

Well I would have one but then I'm biased, that said no dog or kids so no need.

I once had a hankering for the 4.0 W8 version of the previous generation Passat. That was a very strange few minutes.
