Ok, I just checked a car I recently sold, a Jaguar S type and it came back as yes, it IS on the insurance database, but it's a Yamaha grizly Quad bike.

Anyone got an explanation for that ?

The Jag was an 07 reg, so not an old one, and not a "memorable" plate, and not really personalised to a grizzly quad !

It's not unusual, my number plate comes back as being a "Land Rover Range Rover" rather than a Celica.

My insurers say it's DVLA's problem. DVLA say it's my insurer's problem.

I'm not too worried by it, if I get pulled by ANPR for whatever reason they'd presumably pull the data from DVLA (which have got it correct on their database/V5).
