Anybody use Continental Contact 3's?
Discussion
They came as standard on my car, couldn't fault them - granted, my car is a little less exotic though.
Lots of grip, both wet and dry, though you did sacrifice a little in the way of wear time (Fronts on mine were replaced after ~10000miles at 2.5mm, 130bhp FWD hatch) but the wear is not poor enough to be an issue, it is always going to be a slight compromise. Superb tyres, highly recommended.

I had Continetal Contact 3's on my Lexus and was very pleased with them, they are outright winners of many group tests due to the wet weather performance, and are the control tyre on many comparisons. Only criticism is the "banded" design is totally useless in the snow, Goodyear Assymetrics seemed to do better.
I think the low price is that they are last years tyre and been replaced with the 5P.

Cheers Madala, have posted it on there too, though a comment on there said they weren't too impressed.
What other tyres have you both run in the past on the 993 or the RS?
Now on Michelin PS2 which went on just before the bad weather so can't comment on dry performance, or how the Conti 3s were on snow. But on snow/ice they were awful. What other tyres have you both run in the past on the 993 or the RS?
Saying that, like the Conti 5 apparently has, they have much better rim protection.

...I have only ever run on Conti 2s on my car which I have for just over three years. They are a very good all round tyre so have no had any cause to try any other. What other tyres have you both run in the past on the 993 or the RS?
I have a set on my Vrs, replacing a set of Sportcontact2s.
The 3's are a big improvement over the 2 - less noise, improved ride, more grip and less propensity to aquaplane. Big thumbs up from me plus they won the evo tyre test recently (albeit on an mx5).
The 5P is meant to be even better (but not available in a size for my car unfortunately).

OP,
I had them on my M5 and they were just as good as the PS2's that they replaced. Have a look at the Conti 5P as I'd wager that they're even better suited to your car.
I now own Matts old M5 and highly rate the Conti's. Although I have the PS2's on the rear now (had a bargain), I had happily put them on again.I had them on my M5 and they were just as good as the PS2's that they replaced. My fronts need replacing in the next 5000 miles and will likely go for the Conti's again as they are quiet, great in the wet etc. They've worn tremendously well too, getting 15000 plus out of rears.
Another thumbs up to them from me! On my second set in the E46 and getting 30k miles from a set of 4.
Grip, performance I've not been able to fault at all, even had reasonable (when reasonable is defined as moving off and then stopping again in a loosely controlled manner) snow performance. Originally started using as a cheaper replacement for the PS2's and the only downside seems to be a minor drop in econonmy, but happy with that for the tyre performance.
In a recent Auto Express tyre test they came out top, although it was hosted at the Continental test place...
Would buy again.
