Driverstrike
Just reading about how speculators are apparently 'determined to push to price of oil over $100 per barrel'. That will result in petrol price increasing to at least £1.30, that's getting close to £6.00 per gallon! (£1.32 per litre will be £6/gallon)

I thought wouldn't it be fantastic if the consumer fought back, a global 'driver strike' whereby people try to minimise their consumption of fuel in the short term, until the speculators lose millions on their oil futures and the price drops back!

Makes my blood boil that these b s are just playing with the price of oil, and we're paying for their bonuses!

Would a driverstrike work? I'd have thought if it gained enough momentum it would work pretty well, since it would set the speculators against eachother, some would start betting on the price falling!

Aren't we all trying to do that already?

No. Its the same as all the "Don't buy petrol on Wednesday" protests. Everyone will stock up before, then refill after the protest. The amount spent on fuel would be exactly the same.

I'm parking my car a mile from work and home to save money. Costing a fortune in hubcaps and wing mirrors though.
