Asking on behalf of my mother here really.

On Christmas Eve she was involved in a minor collision with the car in front, poor visibilty coupled with a a low winter sun meant she was too late in reacting to the car in front slowing down and into the back of it she went.

Fortunately both parties were un-injured but her car has come off worse, there was damage to the bonnet and radiator and as such was un-drivable.

Her car only reached the garage yesterday and is still yet to be assesed, since Christmas Eve she has been without her own car.

Naturally this hasn't made life for her and she doesn't have the funds for a hire car. What service should she be expecting from the insurance co? They have been very slow in both collecting the car and offering and kind of advice?

I must admit I was expecting them to at least offer her a hire car straight away whilst her car is being sorted. There was also no offer to get her home from the middle of the A1, she was simply left by the side of the road!

What does her policy say?

If you/she has gone for the cheapest quote off some website, you will find that the policy has no benefits and they just fix the car.
