Folks,

We've just bought a Touareg for SWMBO, which is perfect for family duties. I've been thinking about changing my CLK500 for the past few months & was considering Something with equally as stupidly large engine, but sense has got the better of me with the rise of fuel costs & the general inability to really use all of the performance of the Merc. As a result, I'm seriously considering a 2+2 (I still need rear seats for occasional family duties).

My criteria are as follows:

  • Needs to be able to do 20 - 30k miles p.a reliably
  • Needs to be comfortable enough to do the above mileage
  • Can't really be a Porsche, as I work in the defence industry & spend a lot of time on bases - a Porsche would give the wrong impression
  • Budget of around £25k
  • Relatively frugal - 30mog would be fine
  • Can be either petrol or Diesel
  • Needs to be quick
I think my utopia would be an Evora, but as the are £40k+, they aren't really viable.

The only things that are really appealing are:

335D coupe (not really a 2+2, I know)
135 coupe

A5's just don't appeal

Please help!!!!!!!!!

The 6-series may be worth considering, if you can live with the looks. A 630i will do 30mpg if you drive it very carefully and a 630d will if you don't.

A 330i would do 30mpg easily enough if you'd prefer a petrol 3-series.

I guess there are Mercs that will do the job too.

The Evora's rear seats are pretty rubbish unless your children have no legs, anyway.
