To the looser in the fake police car
Discussion
Title should obviously read "fake" and not "face". Got to love mobile phones.
I feel compelled to post today, this is an unusual occurrence as I spend 99% of my piston heads forum time reading the posts.
What I saw today can only be described as embarrassing for the guy who decided to invest money in making his old ST200 look like an undercover motorway patrol car. Every last detail was taken care of.
So there I am driving south on the M6 from Chorley to Manchester in the outside lane when I encounter slow traffic, eager to see what the holdup is I can just about make out a dark blue Mondeo ST200 with a plethora of stubby and long aerials on the roof and rear hatch window sitting in the middle lane @ circa 59MPH.
My first reaction is ok fair enough it’s a motorway patrol car and people are reluctant to speed past. As I get closer all does not seem right with this car, it appears to have two larger than standard exhausts and a Reg beginning with M4.
Upon further inspection there is a large sticker in the rear window stating “Are you too close?” followed by small bar corner LED light strips and a 50 something plonker in the driver’s seat wearing a tie and a black tank top as if to imitate a police stab vest. Hands a 10 to 2 and looking straight ahead with a very serious expression on his face.
All I can say is WTF!!?? Why would someone go to such lengths to transform themselves into both a rolling distraction and an embarrassment? I just feel for his wife wherever she might be.

It should also read 'loser' and not 'looser'. Unless there were two people in the car in question, one of them tight, one of them loose, and you were referring to the 'less tight' one?
Are you by any chance related to Mr Fake Policeman?

Most of the police want-to-be's ended up as those irritating Traffic officer (Wombles).
This is clearly very sad.
I work part time in a motorway services and therefore meet 'traffic wombles' very regularly. In my opinion your perception of them is pretty wrong. Out of the 3 I meet on a regular basis 2 are ex-trafpol and the other is ex-navy. They are, in general, far from irritating and provide a service that used to be the job of motorway patrols before they got rid of them. This is clearly very sad.

I dislike people like the Mondeo driver you have described. I very much think there are mental issues there. Inferiority/superiority complexes? Megalomania? Take your pick...
A bit like those annoying, fat, 50-something year old bikers who insist on dressing like a Police officer.
Plain white bike - usually a large tourer or similar.
Plain all black leathers.
Plain black boots.
Fluro yellow jacket with police style reflective battenburg strips.
Plain white flip front helmet with 'intercom'.
I can't decide if they are mentally ill or just serious oddballs.
