So you overtake on dual carriage ways and motorways then don't pull over to the left?

But why? Pray tell, is it:

Ignorance - that you honestly don't know that you should.

Or

Arrogance - That you have some kind of superiority complex and feel you are better than everyone else?

Depends if your yank-tank wants to pitch you off the road, because you tried to change direction in less than 2 miles.

It doesn't apply to me but I suspect it's mostly the arrogance of others which means that they know they won't be allowed back out into L2 (or 3) when they come up behind the next lorry.

I think it is normally due to the fact that they can see another vehicle in lane 1 ahead of them.

Such matters as closing speed, distance, other traffic matter not, (stupid) people take the mindset that "I'll have to over take that eventually, so I'll just stay out here, so I don't have to do one of those complex mirror, signal, swerve things that I failed my first 15 driving tests on".

Certainly can be part of it. I always try and give people to move out so we can all make progress. Some seem to take pleasure in blocking others in.

When I've seen people questioned on tv about it (years ago) that was the reason they gave. They didn't believe anybody would "let them out" again if they went in to lane 1.

There's a lot of people on here who complain about people who get in their way while overtaking on the motorway. But it's that attitude that causes more MLMs. If more people gave a bit of space to people who would like to overtake something in lane 1, they would be less likely to hog lane 2.

What is it today with people making sweeping statements about the way others drive. Think this is the third "For those of you..." Thread I have seen today!

I know the motoring news is thin on the ground at this time of year but come on!

Arrogance.

We all have access to a copy of the highway code, there is no excuse for not knowing it, regardless of how long ago we took our test.

Ignorance is not an excuse IMO.

I would understand if the highway code cost £2,000 to buy or something, but you can read it for free on the internet if anything else.

Many years ago I had a girlfriend who's mother was a MLM. The reason she gave for this behavoir was that if one of her tyres blew out, then because she was in the middle lane she was less likely to hit anything at the side of the road if she lost control of the car.

Neither ignorance or arrogance, education is the key, give them two chances to move, then a couple of flashes, if no response, safe undertake pull back into their lane then brake test the mother fkers!

yes the amount of times I have been blocked in L1 whilst out in a hire car for any work trips I have to make is unbelievable, the attitude of the MLM seems to be either "I’m not moving" or "ha your fault for using the lorry lane". In the 'stang however it isn't too much of a problem biggrin
