Why are there hardly any of these about? Personally I think they look great, and if they handle anywhere near as good as an Elise but are slightly softer could be ideal for me?

Too expensive , not particulary well built, and cramped compared to cars it should of been rivalling?

That's the Evora.

The Europa is a great car IMO. But it's was poorly marketed at the time.

I think the biggest problem was that Lotus marketed it as something it wasn't - a GT. They were quite expensive new, too.

There was one parked outside my house last night when I got home.
Not as pretty as I thought it could have been.
Bit stumpy?
And no he wasn't giving the Mrs a seeing too!

I must admit I really like the look of the Europa. I know nothing about it TBH to the point that I don't even know the engine it uses!

I can't stand the Evora.

THe 2.0 litre Vauxhall turbo lump. Basically, the Europa is a VX220 mk2.

2.0 Turbo, from the VX220/Astra IIRC

Elise - 4 pot Toyota for £25k smile

Europa - 4 pot Vauxhall for £35k frown

It's a price thing, simple as that since they're both on the same chassis.

as said, when you consider they are a VX220 turbo with a different body, yet cost almost double the money, it sort of makes the point.

good car, way too much money.

To be fair, it's probably most directly comparable to the supercharged Elise/Exige, and you can easily pay 35k for one of them.

Apologies you are of course correct, my mistake.

just goes to show how good the Lotus marketing is.

I'm not asking you to justify your own opinion, rather using this post as an example.

I've read a number of similar posts regarding the Evora, and I'm at a loss as to why this may be.

I can appreciate that it is unarguably too heavy for what it is / should be, and that asthetics are a very personal thing, but I can't help thinking that this is the kinds of car that we should be encouraging manufacturers to be making.

I hope that they prove to have an acceptable reliability record, and look forward to them getting towards the £20k mark ...... I'm still waiting for a £30k R8 too though smile

I do like it and that seems a good price used for a nearly new car, but.... if I actually had the cash in my hand...

A 23k 997?!

This would probably be what I bought!
