We got high 40s / low 50s on motorway runs. Low to mid 40s around town.

My dad has a 2.0 zetec in his 2000 Mondeo. Gets 20mpg around town and not much more on the highway.
It is an auto but he is still dissapointed with it.

edit: meant 2000 not 20001

I have owned a 2002 Mondeo with the 2.0 Duratec engine so should be the same as a 2008 Focus and I was averaging 35MPG on rural scottish roads.

A mate of mine has a 2001 Focus Saloon 2.0 petrol which averages 20MPG around town, maybe 30 ish on a run but he does drive it hard, well actually drives it like he stole it.

If the OP is after a 2008 focus then zetec refers to trim level not engine, and the engine is a duratec. Don't know about mpg though I'm afraid.

And zetec engines have really really bad consumption so don't use these as ball park figures for the duratec

All of the figures for mk1 foci or pre mk3 mondeos are for the zetec engine

No, he's got a 2.0 duratec. My wifes got a 1.8 manual, same year, 20 round town, upto 35 on a good run.

I can get it over 40mpg on a steady motorway run - the computer shows about 34 after a mix of driving.

I measured the mpg of my 2-litre Mondeo over the new year weekend. Over 360 miles of mixed driving (motorway cruise, fast late night motorway, B-road blatting and town) it returned 32.6mpg.

Low 30's for the petrol 2 litre, they are pretty good. The diesle weirdly is not "that" much better. IN a focus an average of low 40's would be doing well. In our Mondeo diesel we get about 38 on normal a and b roads, and about 45 on long mway runs. Compared to about 33 average and maybe 39 on M way on our old 2 litre pterol. But it depends on the type of raods you drive.

TBH, haivng had same car in petrol and diesel form, next time I will have the petrol. Too many potentially expensive bills wiht the diesels and you pay about 15% more for them 2nd hand to begin with. The 2 litre petrol motor is pretty nice and so long as you watch for noisey inlet manifolds, they go forever!

No he doesn't. He has a 2.0 Duratec.

I'm getting 34mpg average on my 1.8 Duratec Mondeo, it's remapped with a Superchips Bluefin.

Goes marginally better than the 2 litre Mondeo fleet cars of similar age. That's a mix of town commuting and A-road driving and some quick motorway. My 1.8VVT Vectra returned 37mpg over the same use.

I get (according to the trip computer) between 31-33mpg out of my Fiesta ST. I don't do a huge amount of town driving but I do give it some beans whenever I can! driving

I've not calculated how accurate the trip is, but I've no reason not to believe its there or thereabouts.
