...it seems the morons come out to play.

Evening all,

Freed from the monotony of the daily grind, this past Sunday I found myself in the fortunate position to spend the early evening driving around Snowdonia. After dinner at the Royal Oak Hotel in Betwys-y-Coed, I began my return journey home. Driving along the A55, I made good progress due to light traffic and the generally good lane discipline of others.

However, it appears that somehow Wales encourages drivers to drive in a half-decent fashion much more so than in England, for shortly after I crossed the border, I encountered the first, strongly determined middle-lane moron.

soapbox

It was late and the motorway was very lightly trafficked, therefore there was no absolutely no reason for the pea-brained, mouth-breathing spastic driving their hateful scensoredtbox Kia runt-carrier at less than 60-mph to be hogging the middle fcensoredg lane. Not content with being a symbol of the mentally retarded, inbred window licker behind the wheel, the wcensoredr made no attempt to move over as I approached (presumably because the mirrors fitted to their piece of scensoredt motorised dishwasher are just for show), forcing me to move across 2 lanes to pass them on the correct side, then two back to continue on in the proper fcensoredg lane.rage

Now, one MLM is, in the grand scheme of things, of course a very trivial and minor irritation. I had passed several on my journey. Where they do start to take the pcensoreds though is when they have the bare-faced fcensoredg cheek to retaliate to your requests to move their fat bcensoredd ccensoredtmobile out of the middle of the fcensoredg road.

Cue the last ccensoredt that I had the misfortune to encounter on that journey. ranting I was travelling in lane one and was gaining steadily on this fcensoredg idiot. It was pitch black and so this pcensoredk would have seen my headlights closing from a mile off, that is IF scensoredt-for-brains had bothered to use their bcensoredd mirrors. There were a couple of drivers going faster than me, and because I was in the correct lane, they were able to overtake me without issue. The problem was that whilst they were overtaking me, I wished to overtake ccensoredtface in their fcensoredking ccensoreddemobile Meriva. If the bcensoredd had been using the correct fcensoredg lane, this would not have been a problem...but because they were insistent on being a fcensoredg acensoredhole and a moron, I got stuck behind them (I know I probably could have sped-up earlier to merge into lane 3, but that's not the point). Seeing this blatant act of ccensoredtery, I obliged to do everyone else a favour and give them a pointer with a burst of full-beam. At last! Dickface McCcensoredtstubble wakes-up from their fcensoredg inbreeding-induced stupor and moves over...only to pull back into the middle lane once I'd passed and flash their fcensoredg headlights at ME as I pulled back into lane one. Maybe they objected to me highlighting the fact that their standard of driving is a fcensoredg disgrace, but my message to that driver is that shout "You, sonny, were in the wrong - don't get fcensoredg pcensoredssy with me when I'm forced to point it out to you. Pcensoredck. Why should I have to fcensoredg brake to avoid you because you're tcensoredtting about in the wrong bcensoredd lane, ignorant motherfcensoredcker?"

What is it with these wcensoredkers? IMO these middle-lane ccensoredkgoblins should be forced into the nearest ditch, VBRJ'd, lynched and have their tongues cut out and stapled to their bcensoredd foreheads if they protest! What gives them the right to fcensoredk things up for everyone else using the road? I know we see it all the time, but this is precisely why we should be angry and do something about it.

Oh, and forewarning for anyone who's planning on harping on that no-one should do over 70-mph to overtake these fools: This isn't the place for your wooly-headed political correctness - thinking like that will not help advance the human race - just pcensoreds off before I have to hunt you down.shoot

Other than that; as you were ladies and gents. smokin

There's a retired judge in my neck of the woods who refuses to drive in any other lane than lane 2...

Because they're driving way faster than they're comfortable with and can't cope with the additional stress of changing lanes.

Basically they're totally out of their depth and shouldn't be on roads with speed limits faster than 30mph, but since many years ago they passed a basic test proving that they could operate the machinery to a vaguely acceptable standard (but not on fast roads) they are licensed to go where they like and therefore, in their own eyes, are proven to be good safe drivers. After all, they've got the bit of paper to prove it!

Why not just drive up behind them and flash full beam at them 'till they get out of the way?

ETA : apparently I skimmed over that part of the rant, sorry.

Everyone was passing a Middle Lane Cruiser last night, in both lanes one and three.

As I was almost alongside, Middle Lane Cruiser spotted a salting lorry's orange strobes about a mile ahead, so he switched on his hazards and stood on his brakes...

Just like a Harrier vectoring in flight, he suddenly disappeared backwards.

God knows what happened behind him.

Someone I know said they drive in the middle lane because - and I'm not making this up - if they have a blowout they will be further away from the embankment that would severely injure them

The only justification for using the middle lane i can think of is that some inside motorway lanes have significant tramlines in them from heavy HGV usage, but nonetheless this does not excuse failing to yield to a faster vehicle. It's hugely frustrating that these fktards can singlehandedly turn large stretches of motorway into an effective dual-carriageway, as everyone travelling faster is forced around them.

I blame the lack of education, both by driving instructors / testing and general awareness by the DSA. Motorway training should be compulsory in parts of the UK where a motorway is nearby, and the understanding that the 2nd and 3rd lanes are overtaking lanes needs to be made much more clear. Gantry signs could be used to remind drivers that middle-lane hogging is in contravention of the highway code.

Also, not a bad rant OP. I had to click the quote button to work out a couple of the swearwords hehe

I like how you carefully went to the effort of putting in the censored smiley, rather than typing out the naughty word in full and allowing it to auto-censor. In a rant about an incident two days ago. You must be furious.

I dont think i have seen so many red smiles in a post! Congrats.

I used to get worked up about MLM's however have recently took the stance that why get stressed about it.

However, tonight i was in the same boat. Crusing down the m25 at just gone 11 on the newly 4 lane carrige way, as i over take a car and pull back to lane 1, i see someone in lane 3 in the distance - nobody in lanes 1 or 2.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt i stedily catch them, still nothing, as i start to come from 1 to 2, still nothing, having to overtake him, flash him several times as i come out into 4, no re-action.

I dont understand it, i really dont, why sit in lane 3 of 4 on an empty motorway, and force drivers to cross 3 lanes to pass?

Definitely approve of this. Big rant over something not at all major but that we can all relate to.

What we need is a tiered licence system, those of us with more sense get to push about the dumb fktards. Literally, Defender + bull bars n all biggrinhehe

It is ofcourse the MLMS that create traffic as we all move outside to overtake and then people are overtaking at 65 and those of us that want to cruise above that speed have to slow down, ripple effect, etc etc. This will of course render the new lane on the M25 absolutely useless as lane 3 becomes the MLMs haven and everyone has to overtake in lane 4 and no one gets anywhere faster. Christ it's depressing to think about frown

Though that being said, I got so bored of MLMs on my last trip down the M25 that I sat in lane 1 at 80 and undertook all the dozy window lickers. Not worth the effort.

Standard driving in Wales I think. Often used to notice a difference in standard of motorway driving after crossing the Severn bridge.

I suspect that because there are so few motorways that some drivers will have never experienced proper tuition so just go for middle lane. They also seem to have an unhealthy respect for the speed limit.

What really gets up my nose is the Middle Lane Cruisers flashing and horning when I pass them and move back to lane one.

One of these days, I'm going to catch one and flick bogies at him...irked
