Anyone taxed their car in December using the online service?
Discussion
As the title says really.
My wife's VED ran out on 31st December and being a good citizen, I paid for the tax a couple of weeks earlier online on 16th December. It hadn't arrived in the post last week, so I rang them and they advised me:
No such luck
I'm just going to ignore the 10th January limit (or rather my wife is), but has anyone else experienced delays getting their disc in the post, or is it a load of bks?

Not to worry, we've had delays with the post due to the bad weather. It should arrive before 4th Jan, but if it doesn't ring us back and we'll issue a duplicate. Your car can be used legally until 10th Jan, due to the way Bank Holidays have fallen this year.
Fair enough I thought, it's bound to arrive. No such luck

So did you ring them back today?
No, I leave for work before our post arrives and Looness has been out all day too. I'll ring them tomorrow and have a polite rant.Pothole said:

As I said before, I'm not bothered about the theoretical limit of 10th Jan.

I drove for 6 months with a printed page saying I had tax, it had been posted to my old house and I kept meaning to nip down and collect it.When I went to renew it I found out I had actually been driving for 6 months and 29 days, OOPS!
Although the offence is "Not displaying valid tax", the police just check on the computer these days and are unlikley to issue a ticket as long as the car is taxed.
Keep a copy of correspondence from them stating the vehicle is taxed and postage delayed!
