Best way to get a reliable1000 BHP?
Discussion
Ok, time for a bit of creative PH thinking
... What is the best & most cost effective way to get 1000 Bhp under your right foot? Rules are:
1)No Nitrous or race fuel, Shell V power is the best fuel you are allowed to use.
2)Superchargers & Turbos are fine.
3)Must have a chance of real world reliability/reusability, so an ex F1 1500cc Turbo engine is nice, but not really in the spirit of things!
4)Realistic prices, no "buy a Veyron" comments!
5) you can "buy" a car and tune it, or just build an engine to stick into the project of your choice!
GO!

In the absence of a Budget I would...
Golf GTI 30th Anniversary = 230BHP (daily drive)
BMW M3 = 420BHP (Weekend fun)
Standard Escort Cosworth = 220BHP (weekend and fancy a cruise)
Mazda MX5 MK1 1.8 = 130BHP (Summer fun)
Total = 1000BHP
Probably the most reliable 1000BHP you could own!
If you want it in one car it will have to be Japanese and it will cost you more than this lot put together!

I seem to remember reading about that 1000bhp skyline that the jap tuning house top secret built, and i think they reckoned it would cost well over £100k to replicate it. This is back in the day somewhat, mid to late 90's i thinkGolf GTI 30th Anniversary = 230BHP (daily drive)

Nissan Skylines will easily handle in excess of this with excessive tuning. They'll still undercut most exotica even when tuned too, and they'll be reliable.
I thought that tuning Skylines in excess of 600bhp starts to get expensive and unreliable. Edited by Twincam16 on Sunday 2nd January 13:38

My vote would be a 'charged american V engine. Didnt a company release a 1000bhp twinturbo setup for a viper?

Being a hybrid, would it be congestion exempt?

The car is licensed here in California. In California, new cars have bi-annual smog inspections so if you modify the engine, it is likely to fail the inspection and you won't be able to drive it on the street. There are some exempt engine modifications (ex. after-cat mufflers - big deal) but none that will allow you to add 1350 hp to a new car.

I don't know how much it cost or how reliable it is but it has 2000 bhp and I really really want it!
