Video: Ferrari P4/5 Competizione

Watch this space - it's engine start day...

Anyone else taking advantage of the Festive break to push on with that little pet project? I was thinking of stripping the handlebars on my old Dawes racer, but I probably won't get round to it...

Nice to see somebody keeping busy though - especially when it's James Glickenhaus and he's getting ready to fire up the motor in the fabulous Ferrari P4/5 Competizione project 'live' on the internet today. At least the build team promised they would yesterday via their Facebook page.

While you wait, have a look at some of the other videos they've uploaded to YouTube over the holidays.

Is this the second that is being built?

IIRC a very similar car was built 3-4 years ago by a forum member called 'Napolis'. I belive he also did a tour with the car, evening attending the FoS one year.

The fella is an out and out car nut and a real gem to have in any car enthusiast community.

That he did, I was there on the Sunday that year (2007, apparently), watching someone (not sure if it was him or what) properly booting it up the hill, in the rain, just after that Yes! Roadster took a short trip off the tarmac and into a barrier. It was tense.

Not the best photo, I know.

According to some reports this P4/5 Competizione is based on F430 with GT2 spec running gear (inc. engine). However, the original road version P4/5 was actually based on an Enzo. So, does it mean F430's chassis is better than Enzo's for GT style racing? Coz there's an Enzo based GT racing car, as well, which is re-badged as MC12 GT1. So given the choices why did he choose F430 over Enzo at the first place? Don't tell me its all about the money...

Racing regulations. The race it will compete in won't allow carbon chassis. Plus the V12 would have required a simply vast fuel tanl alledgely...

Or it could be that the racing Enzo is classified as GT1 or LM 'GT' which is being phased out now due to the World Champ, The 430 is GT2 or GT3 dependant on trim so this can be raced at the Nurburgring or any ACO rules event.

Hi

That was me driving P 4/5 up the Hill.

Carbon Fiber Chassis aren't allowed at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and a V-12 would be too fuel inefficient to do well there. Basically P 4/5 Competition is being built to GT2 specifications and classed as EXP1 because P 4/5 was a one off.

I really hope to see some of you at the Ring! We'll also be bring 0846 and 002 to Parade before the Race and hang in our garage.

Hi Jim

I have been following the build of P4-5-C on Ferrari Chat. Are there any plans to take it or the original to any major events in the UK in 2011. It would be great to see them up close and personal.

Thanks.

Hi

For the time being P 4/5 will stay in the US but at some point she'll head across for events.

Cheers!
