My Rover 213S is due it's M.O.T on Tuesday and I get a stone chip that cracks straight away in the "B" zone between the wipers on the windscreen. I got the tape measure out and it's 2mm too long for a pass. Grrrr!
I can't find a replacement screen anywhere for "such an old car".
Any ideas?

My insurance company wanted to write off my Subaru Justy last year because of a broken window I would hate the same thing to happen to this car.
Thanks in advance for your assistance and suggestions (productive ones). All the best for 2011 Rob.

So is the 'defect' 42mm long? If so...
RAC Auto Windscreens.
Autoglass.
Any other windscreen fitter - try your yellow pages/yell.com/local suppliers list on the interweb or local town business directory.
If you are fully comp insured, your insurer will have a preferred car glass supplier - read the insurer's bumph and use their recommended supplier (the excess will probably be about £60).
If the defect is 27mm long, no problem. If you're insured less than fully comp and the windscreen doesneed replacing, you're on your own - but you can make a saving by shopping around, still.
Also, doesn't this screen also fit a Honda Ballade of the same era?
EDIT: I am sure Glassman of this parish will be able to give you chaper and verse on what is available for an SD3.

Is it in clear view when seated in the driver seat and as such in line of sight or can you only see bodywork
As above, if it's not affecting the drivers view of the road, then it should be a pass and advise, forget the Autoglass advert where their tester looks at the screen from the outside in, it is the wrong method of inspection, it should be checked by sitting in the drivers seat and looking out.
Have you tried a small independant windscreen company?, we have one at work and I had no problem with getting a heated front screen for my Sierra for the next day.
Is it possible to reposition the arm so that the damaged area is not swept by the blade?, obviously you don't want the view restricted by a parked wiper arm.
The official MOT testers manual is here:

Checked with this chap then yet?Seems a shame to scrap a pretty rare, OK car for the sake of a windscreen.

You don't need a windscreen to pass an MOT
Remove windscreen, pass MOT, replace windscreen
this is true i think - think about cars with no windscreen - ariel and westfield etc.Remove windscreen, pass MOT, replace windscreen
if it has a windscreen it needs to be ok but if it doesn't have a windscreen then you are ok i think.
so, take it out
