Came back to my car this evening and Every Panel Scratched
Discussion
Really sad moment, in 14 years of driving, never experienced this level of vandalism.
Was in a nice part of London (Chiswick) in a residential road on a single yellow line after hours.
Not blocking anyone and parked consideratley.
Got back to the car, it was late evening and dark, Didnt notice anything, but got a puncture warning light come on.
Stopped off at the petrol station to see that there were deep slashes in my tyre (front passenger side)
Looked at the rest of the car, every panel bar rear has been deeply scratched.
I am trying to trace back everything to see if I did anything to annoy anyone whislt driving before - but nothing, im a pretty considerate and slow driver.
Car is quite unique - Alpina D3 with private plate.
I cant believe the ferociousness of this vandalism.
What do people do in this situation, is it an insurance job?
I rang the police straight away, they gave me a reference number, I'm sure there is CCTV in that area.
Gutter beyond comprehension, but hey - life goes on.
Will post some pics tomorrow to show the extent of the damage.

Sorry to read this, I felt a mix of anger and a sort of worry when It happened to me, i searched for a reason and wondered if i had done something but in the end I think it was just a t
t or t
ts who did it because the car was there.
Don't take it personally, get insurance involved if you have protected no claims and move on, don't dwell on it.

It's terrible.
Sister in law had her car keyed because she parks in her grandad's private space, when she's at work (he doesn't have a car, but has the space at his flat).
Local scumbag's parents moved in down the street, and when he got out of prison he took it upon himself to key all the panels.
Once she got it sorted he did it again.
The second time Police had footprints in the snow but they melted before scenes of crime could get out, and they thought they had traces of paint from her car on his keys... But he was never charged. They seemed to know exactly who it was but couln't do anything.

My dad bought a 1982 911sc new and kept it up until 2006 when he ran out of garage room, sold it to family member and has been trying to persuade him to sell it back since. Anyway...
12 odd years ago when I was little he was in town shopping and when he got back to the car (in a multistory) the same thing had happened. Every single panel. Been properly slashed at as well so all the plastic trim and rubber window seals were damaged.
No reason whatsoever.
Think insurance paid out for a full respray, replacement parts the lot. I'll ask him. In fact I know they did but I don't know the ins and outs.
Mistaken identity maybe? But most likely just jealousy.

I have had this happen to me. It's an insurance job for sure if you are comprehensively insured.
Now for some good news.
As its a open and shut case from the insurance point of view, they tend to be pretty quick about resolving it. I was in courtesy car within a day and had it written off and money paid into my account within two weeks.
The next bit of good news is that vandalism doesn't load insurance premiums much, so you won't get raped at renewal time.
Although its not much fun right now , in six months you will be able to laugh at this.

Thanks for the replies guys, its funny - you come on here to just vent the frustrations, but it does help.
Will call the insurers tomorrow, havent made a claim for years (10+) but have protected no claims.
Its a real shame, its going to cost the insurance company a good few grand I would imagine, for nothing.
I might pop down chiswick high street tommorrow to see if there is any CCTV
