Help - I have a rover SD1 gear box in an MGB V8 conversion. Not sure whether it is an LT77 or R380 box or other. Cannot find a filler bolt on either side, looks like I may have a pump at front of gear box though, can anyone help?

Is reverse top left or bottom right?

In Land Rover circles I move in Top Left = LT77, bottom right = R380, just in case it helps. smile

There are some pictures of LT77 and R380 gearboxes here in which the locations of the level plugs are visible. Does yours look different?

fwiw, my LT77's filler plug has a 1/2" square peg to unscrew it and the gearbox needs filling with ATF rather than EP90. iirc there's a little plastic filter behind one of the plugs that you have to inspect and clean out periodically. I think it's on the drain plug but it's a while since I've changed the oil. (Note to self...)

Reverse is top left alongside 1st, therefore I thought LT77......but there is no filler plug as shown or described, hence my confusion and or bewilderment....any ideas gents??

R380 is pretty rubbish too, as it goes.

Did you ever sort this out? I am baffled looking for the filler plug on my Lt77, both sides nothing remotely looking like a filler.
