Right I bought a 2004 Nissan without a service book detailing its early history (recent history OK and car is good, so I'm not concerned, would just like to trace its history for when I eventually resell).

Nissan do not have a central database (unlike VAG or Mercedes etc) of services....GRR

I rang a few dealers close to the traders name on the number plates. This resulted in finding 2 services in 2006.

I used motinfo.gov.uk to find out where MOTs were done (all done at 1 place), then emailed every local main dealer to the MOT station. It was around here 2007-2009.

However the first 2 years are proving a struggle. The car wears an "RK" plate so was supplied in the Reading area. I've rang round every dealer in Reading and they don't know the car.

Since it wears a Reading plate - it MUST have been supplied to a dealer that used the Reading DVLA office.

Does anyone know how wide a catchment area of dealers will use the Reading office? Anyone know the boundaries?

Thanks.

Just because it was sold by a dealer near Reading, doesnt mean it was then serviced in that area.

Does the number plates not have the dealer name on?

Maybe the dealer no longer exists...

It could be a parallel import and supplied via Motorpoint or similar!
