London to Chelmsford - M25 or A406?

I have to be in Chelmsford tomorrow morning at 9.30 and have never driven there before.

I live in North West London so I can go on the A406 or M25.

Which way should I go to avoid the traffic? If I go on the M25, it's 48 miles, A406 is 43 miles.

M25 would be my bet...

M11 not an option? No idea meself, but my bro travels from the centre of town to Chelmsford everyday, and he uses the M11.

Ealing Common is all FUBAR'd at the moment isn't it? Works to widen the railway bridge? Avoid.

Whatever route you take, if it was me, I'd be leaving early early and having a relaxed breakfast in Chelmsford rather than trying to go anywhere 'on-time'.

totally agree, depends on what part of chelmsford you got a mac d or wild bean at boreham exit

M25. Do NOT go around the A406 in the morning - the single lane section near Southgate is a nightmare.
