So we're in bed the other night having just watched Fast and Furious...When raised voices and a rather heated arguement between a few people arouse our interest. Looking out the window as one does, there, in my little dead end road in the middle of nowhere (ish) are a group of persons, a couple of cars and a baseball bat!!

After what would appear to be a more than heated arguement, one vehicle leaves, the other still a few feet away from the bottom of my drive, where four cars reside...

It's occupants (for I fear they are not the car's owners) return to the vehicle and rather than fking off, they start acting slightly more suspiciously.

I ask Johnny not to go out for fear of injury (they were only young lads, he might have hurt one wink) yet something inside me wants to go and grab the little scrotes by the throat and give them what for.

They enter the vehicle, leave the vehicle, round the back of the vehicle, then suddenly it clicks...My stomach lurches. They're torching the thing!! Orange flames flicker inside the vehicle...They occupants rapidly leave. There in my oh so quiet little road, literally a few feet from a couple of our cars is a flaming vehicle...

Johnny has by now got his trainers on, and is out the door. I'm admitedly slightly panicked and on the phone to the emergency services.

Outside Johnny had the intention of trying to move said flaming vehicle into the middle of the close, and away from our cars. Fortunately the complete incompetents (for who makes a getaway down a NTR?!?) haven't managed to gain access to the fuel tank and have set alight the interior of (not) their vehicle, closing the door behind them! Johnny has heroically entered the vehicle and put out the fire (really am thankful for this). He's persued the little stes on foot but alas they've left the area. And despite later helicopter searches I don't believe they were located.

Fire Service are first on the scene, within minutes really, then Police. Forensics have been back. Is ongoing.

I dread to think what would have happened had they succeeded in their attempt, and still feel quite sickened by the whole incident.

In hingsight wish i'd unleashed J on them to be honest.

And they say speed kills...

NB I suppose this should be in Health and Safety or Local Heroes really.wink

PH's 'Johnny'.

Was (not) their car that was on fire. Really quite gut wrenching. Vehicle had both windsreens put through and a window or two too. Not the best experience.

Go Johnny, Go Johnny, Go Go Go!
I did, I did!! I runned really fast... but was about 20 secs behind the little fkers.

Probably a good thing really. I wasn't happy.

He did. He was a very brave boy :-)

Not sure what I'd have done had he been on nights. Or whether I'd be here to tell about it either.

You watched the fast and the furious? Did you at least play the NOS drinking game?

Similar thing happened to me a few years back. Not out of character for the area I was living in but it still took me by surprise, mainly as it was mid morning when it happened.

I was still suffering a booze induced fuzzy head and was considering facing the daylight by opening the curtains when a bright flash and a big whooomph occurred. This made the curtain decision a lot easier.

Transfixed by a burning A4 it took me a while to realise that I really should go and move my Scirocco away from the back end of it. I'll never forget the neighbours faces watching the crazy man in underpants burning his hands on his car door handles.

It would be nice to think that with it not burning they might get some forensics and catch someone. It won't happen though.
