Hello everyone. This morning, in my workplace, someone reversed into my car and drove off. The little st has left the left side of my front bumper scratched heavily and broken my Lt foglight. I know what car it was as it was parked opposite me and I remember noticing it as a gold Golf as I thought what a nasty colour. I have gold coloured paint on my front bumper. I don't know the reg plate. I am getting CCTV looked at this afternoon as this has happened at my workplace. I have logged it with the police. I am just wondering what to do when I get the reg plate. I reckon it will be £400-£500 of repairs, but my excess is £400 anyway. I'm just pissed off completely.

Someone at work huh? Shouldn't be too difficult to trace.
Offer them a deal...say £1000 in cash, not to take it any further.

find out who they are and have the living whotsit kicked out of them!!!

My front bumper has 4 or 5 crunches from carpark dings caused by hit and runs.

Problem is that it has shagged the GRP of the bumper, and its a little difficult getting said bumper into the country cost wise ... then i have to get the matching paint in too .... and get it fade matched ... it will be easier to respray the car ....

scratchchin ... viper green could work ....

Kick fk out of them, little basterds. Also leaving the scene of an accident is a fairly serious crime isn't it?

If you get the registration off CCTV, and you have some way of contacting them other than through the police, I'd offer to let them have the damage repaired at their cost by a repairer of your choice. Whether they pay you cash or claim on their insurance is irrelevant, as it won't affect your no claims or your excess.

If they refuse, then just let them know you'll be reporting them to the police for failing to stop/report an accident, and you will then ask your insurance company to contact theirs in order to make a claim against them.

Try Googling 'Europa Consultants'. They'll do the leg work and you won't be out of pocket at all...

If you manage to get the reg. number off CCTV (assuming the CCTVs were actually being recorded - the ones in my local Surrey council car parks aren't, that or they can't be bothered), present the footage to them and if they refuse to pay, nail them to a cross (using the small claims court, naturally).

Otherwise if you have some of their paint rubbed off on your car, look out for a similarly damaged car over the next few days and see confront them.

Cheers guys, I have taken pictures and a short video clip. I've logged it with the police. I was thinking about small claims if it comes to that. And no, I didnt know the poster called bumblebee, I assume he is an imposter!

Your excess isn't necessarily an issue. If the other driver is insured, you won't have to (permanently) pay your own excess - you may have to pay it in the first instance but it is one of the things your insurance company should be seeking to recover from the other driver, if they have insurance, and pay back to you. The excess would only be permanently payable by you if the other driver can't be found, or has no insurance (in which case I think you may still be able to claim from the Motor Insurers Bureau, but don't take my word for it).

They might have just been chancers (read: wkers) who have insurance but didn't want to pay for the damage and/or have a claim against their record. Or they might have been unisured scumbags, in which case let's hope that they take the same attitude to car maintenance as they do to insurance and their scummy motor goes up in a rapid and catastrophic engine fire, taking them with it.

My mate was saying I might be able to track down the car if I have the reg number through the DVLA but i doubt it.
