In a really nice Italian on Friday night and noticed that the salt and pepper pots on the table were Peugeot branded, complete with lion and everything, tastefully marked with the logos in gold leaf near the base.

Have they discovered a more profitable sideline?

Peugeot invented the pepper mill in 1840-something'ish.

ETA: google says 1874.

Mrs Loto once bought me a Peugeot pepper mill for Christmas as I searched for the holy grail of mills. It felt quality but was utter garbage - I now buy disposable mills from Aldi which are excellent and cheap.

The trick apparently is to used semi crushed peppercorns but for me you're rapidly losing flavour once the corn is broken.

...I have an old Salter mill from the 70's with beech body which was Mum's - still works brilliantly after all these years. Modern grinder mechs seem to be garbage.

I have a silver set that I liberated from the Peugeot restaurant on the Champs-Elysee back around 2000/2001 - It was a dealership on the ground level and a very pleasant restaurant on the upper mezzanine.

from the reviews and comparisons i've read about all pepper mills they're all pretty much the same (rather meh) except for the mannikitchen pepper cannon which is miles ahead of the rest. No way would I spend £180 on pepper grinder though.

WOW! Now that is a completely unnecessary way to spend £180!

Watching the scene of them putting on the French accents sitting around the table is honestly up there with the hardest I've ever laughed

Haven't seen one for a while, but I remember Peugeot bikes when I was a kid.

I have a wooden set - they're really hopeless. Have tried with every salt possible.

They work well with the salt they sell on their website. Which is pound for pound more expensive than gold.

I did try their salt - it came in a packet with the grinders.

I would not buy them again, although they look nice.

Picked up a set of Peugeot salt and pepper mills recently. Have been through a few sets over the years, these are definitely the best we've had

Sadly unlike their cars (I've had 6 of them!)
