Has anyone on here imported a car from Australia to the UK? If so what was the shipping cost element? I have had 2 quotes that are prohibitively expensive for what is an old low value car, just wondering what other people have paid for the shipping.

I have imported a couple of cars from Singapore in the past so I am fully aware of the import process.

Have not done it myself but i have customers who have moved back to the UK and put their car in a large container with all their goods so cost was minimal. sorry probably no help!!

These guys came recommended but they are in NZ but may be worth contacting them - uropeancarimports.co.nz

Shipping costs to UK (from the Antipodes) are very high at present, my customs bloke says wait until the fall back.

I was quoted GBP5,500 for a car (20ft container) from NZ to UK.

Shipping alone was around £1,500, but I’ve seen prices vary a lot depending on the company and the port used.

That is what I was expecting/hoping to pay, but the 2 quotes I have had have been 3 and 4 times that amount. Which to me seems very expensive just for shipping.

The 2 quotes I have received have been £5400 and £6200. That is just for shipping.
