Do you prefer ICE/PHEV or BEV? Or a combination of them?

I've currently only got cars powered by ICE, but what is your favourite way of doing it though?

I have a BMW 330e which is a PHEV. I find it the best of both worlds to be honest. For commuting and steady driving I just use electric motor but if I fancy a bit of a play I'll pop it into sport and just use the ICE. I'm not ready for a full EV just yet.

I love BEV powertrains in barge like cars, I like how even in a little electric mini it has the smoothness and torque delivery of a V12, but to date nobody has put one in a car I'd want. Taycan comes closest I think.

I had really high hopes for the EQS, expecting MB to turn up and show Tesla how you make a real luxury EV rather than something with the look and feel of a city bus, but what we got was. Well.. Not a proper luxury car.

I get the most pleasure from ICE though, with 6 or more cylinders ideally.

I like mine to be powered by the complaints of users on internet forums who complain about people posting on internet forums.

I’ve got a BEV, Model 3 Performance.
I’ve got a PHEV (well, the wife does), Passat GTE Advance Estate
I’ve got a Turbo ICE, BMW 440i Convertible
I’ve got a NA ICE, Audi TT V6 MK1.

They are all great at different things, though I would say that the Passat WILL get replaced with a BEV estate as soon as one that I like (iD7, A6) is in budget.

The 440i and the Tesla are very similar in feel and road holding, though the Tesla is markedly quicker and cheaper to run.

The TT just sounds superb.

I maintain that there is not one size fits all, even for an individual, though if forced to pick one car, I’d consolidate my 3 into a 911 991.2 probably, I’ve been mulling it over.

Depends.
Local short trips, dump it anywhere, thrash it from cold - electric appliance.
Longer, faster, noisier, more fun - petrol V-something.

Mine are both ICE.

Next family car will probably be plug-in hybrid, but I'm not averse to battery. Main issue is that I'm not sure what I want (moderately sized AWD estate with some ground clearance) is popular enough for anyone to make it.

I've an aversion to Diesel.

I don't yet have faith in the idea of a BEV, especially after watching someone go round pleading to go next on the charger so he could make the 15 minutes home.

Full Hybrid is nice, but not having the ability to top up / drive on electricity for those short runs around the block is a bit of a pain.

Petrol is my current flavour, though I'd generally prefer a PHEV Powertrain with a small battery.

Again, covers those short runs to the station etc. where turning an engine on feels mechanically immoral (Not enough time to even consider warming up), but backed by an immediately available puddle of chemical energy that will take me a good 3 - 400 miles.

They enable a raft of convenience with electrically powered anciliaries, AC, Heating, big KV batteries for sitting around waiting, and efficiency benefits from regen, power filling / boosting the engine..
