I had an accident in 2017 (a car ran into the drivers door of my car at about 1mph). I contacted my insurer who disputed the claim for me. The other driver claimed whiplash (although I was able to provide evidence that he played cricket that weekend as captain of his local club!) and ended up bringing a claim against me for which insurers instructed a law firm. This happened whilst I was living abroad, however I spoke to the legal advisor in November 2020 and offered to provide whatever information they needed. Life got busy - moving back to the UK, second child etc. I heard nothing at all in 4 years from insurer or lawyer.
This week I find out that I have a CCJ against me for £6k (by my credit card company cutting my limit from £10k to £500 without notice - thanks Halifax!). The judgment was in May this year, so it is way past the period to just remove it.
I am obviously beyond furious with insurer and lawyers and am going to be on their back every day until this is resolved - but any advice would be appreciated!

Start off by a formal complaint to insurer with a view to escalating to the Ombudsman

Then consider a complaint to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (although this might be muddied as the client, by insurer paying the fees).

And the cricket captain, spread the word at what a douche he really is.

You can apply to get that set aside. It costs but in your circumstances worth it and I would have thought you'd get the fee back from admiral.

Same solicitors AXA used when I had a claim, which took a couple of years to sort out.

I found them... OK, but not necessarily super quick with anything (not sure how much was them, and how much was the other party), and the person I was dealing with changed a few times.

Not got much direct help for your specific scenario, but I was left with the impression that being proactive yourself about keeping on top of what needs doing, promise dates, and chasing up etc will definitely be something you want to keep.a handle on.

I finally got through to the lawyers who claimed that in fact the other drivers claim was struck out and the amount owing is incorrectly registered against me, when it should be against him. They have promised to notify the court immediately - which whilst a relief, I will be asking to see whatever correspondence there is relating to this to confirm that the fault wasn't by them.

I've lodged a complaint with insurer too on the basis that I've not been kept in the loop for 4 years (I stupidly presumed a claim didn't actually materialise).
