Is your car ULEZ compliant? ULEZ checker
Discussion
I've been reading a lot about ULEZ lately and assumed, since my car is a 3 litre twin turbo V6 Mercedes, surely a LONG way from Ultra Low Emissions, that there was simply no way it could be.
In a dull moment this evening I Googled the government ULEZ checking website and, blow me down, it is!
Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)
This vehicle meets the ULEZ emissions standards
You do not need to pay a daily ULEZ charge to drive in the zone, and are helping to improve air quality across London.
You will not need to pay any fees to drive in the zone.
So I'm curious, what have you got and is it compliant? I'm fascinated to see what you have to drive for it not to be.

My van (VW Kombi 2.0 diesel 140bhp 2014) isn’t.
My car (GLC63 4.0 petrol 476bhp 2018) is.
Make of that what you will.
As an aside, I’d urge everyone who has a non compliant vehicle to register for autopay. The new rules start on the 29th and there’s a lot of confusion with regards to the boundaries - it’s not everywhere inside the M25 as some would have you believe.

It's basically down to nitrous oxide emissions, so diesels are way worse than petrols.
Petrols need to be EU4 standard so anything post 2005/2006 should be fine, and plenty of earlier stuff will be too.
Diesels need to be EU6 standard so 2014/2015.
This is why obscure petrols with big engines are compliant, but seemingly frugal little diesels are not.

I'm old enough to remember when the government were telling us that diesels were the answer, the light, the future, and busy subsidising them to get more people to buy them! Petrols need to be EU4 standard so anything post 2005/2006 should be fine, and plenty of earlier stuff will be too.

A little like they're doing now for electric cars...

My daily 1969 Volvo Amazon is exempt.
Not only is it exempt, you should receive benefits for running it imo. It’s a compliment!!
Mine's Ulez Compliant.
I'm going through the West End when I have time.
The car's a Southern GT40 Mark I
Ford 302 stroked to 347 - 5700cc - circa 450hp - Around 8-14 MPG depending on the traffic conditions.
I also had a nice message thanking me for helping out.
