Hi Pistonheads,

I have been issued a Notice of Intended prosecution (PIN) whereby the mobile camera caught me doing 36mph on a 30mph road, however the road I was on was clearly a 50mph as 30mph signs were another 60 to 70 meters down the road. I did not see any other signs that suggested the road I was on was temporarily reduced or road works, etc, I am confused as the camera pics clearly show me on a 50 MPH road not a 30MPH road.

One thing that is bugging me is the wording ' Exceed 30 mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order - manned equipment (Contrary to the above local traffic order and sections 84 and 89(1) of the road traffic reg act 1984 and schedule 2 to the road traffic offenders act 1988.

I assume from this 'Local traffic order' that there is some restriction on this bit of road of which was not clearly visible to me...

Any one help as I feel I am going to accept liability when i was doing 36 on a 50mph road...

The big yin

Are you sure you hadn't passed a 30mph sign and missed it? You'd be surprised what people miss, recently had a guy who lived in the area accuse me of recently putting signs up and changing the limit when he got a ticket. Wasn't until I showed him google street view for multiple years did he believe me.

Yes, I doubt they would put a camera van without a reason. However, I wouldn’t rely on Google street view. Where I live now, and where I used to live are still about 7 years out of date.
