I parked my car at Waitrose car park, when I came out, I had a note and a MASSIVE dent on the passager door . The note said ( Call this number I saw everything and took a picture of the registered number)
I call the number and the man told me that a woman was driving a 4x4 TERRANO II DIESEL SW Silver the registered number is NG54 0JP crached and she drove off , he managed to take a photo as she left and send it to me . I then went to Waitrose they took all my details and had a look at the CCTV. The manager confirm that the car in the photo is the car who hit mine , he also say that my car rocked due to hit and therefore the person driving would have noticed. I then called 101 and they told me to fill a form. I then requested by writing the cctv footage and the name of the person of that car to the DVAL .
I spoke to my insurance who told me that without a name or evidence they cannot help, if I use my insurance I lose 5 year bonus , plus have to pay for a access of £200 and next year premium will be a lot higher and I wasn’t even in my car..
I don’t know if all my effort will get me anywhere, but I will do anything I can to found this person and make her pay for the damage as I might need a new door.
I spoke to the police who will review the CCTV footage and the photo , once they have the evidence I can then go back to my insurance and let them sort it out without me paying , well this is my hope.
This is the second 4x4 who hit my car in a car park , I always park far from the shops and but they seem to follow me ..

Has anyone else experiences this and had result from evidence ?

The DVLA should provide the name of the registered keeper under these circumstances.

Not sure this counts as motoring news...

If you find your insurance company isn't too keen on doing any work, may be worth handing over to one of those accident management companies who maybe more proactive in making their money.

Deal with a reputable one though, and make sure the contract doesn't say you are liable in the event of them not recovering their costs and so on.

do an MID check -

https://www.askmid.com/ - may cost you £4

that will show if the other car is insured firstly and assuming it is, will give you contact details and policy number for the insurers. Phone them and report the accident. The insurers then have to contact their insured for their version of events. Let them know about the witness, police and CCTV etc. Maybe quicker doing it this way

I don't understand why you're having to do anything? If you're fully comp, surely you just give your insurance company the reg of the car that hit you, and the contact details of the 2 witnesses and leave them to it. It's also in their interests to get their money back too.

It's what I've done in the past and it's been fine.

oh! look another 4x4 driven by a women crashing into a parked car in a supermarket ...I know a lots of them drive such big car for safety , but what about other people safety .. I have absolutely nothing against women drivers , i am a woman and i am a very good driver.. BUT after having my car crashed while parked not once by twice by a 4x4 driving by women i am starting to wonder if perhaps some of them should need to take another test to drive 4x4’s in cities and car parks ..

OP, the evidence you have is sufficient in making a claim and likely winning the case.

I was witness to a lorry reversing into a car, noted all the details down but unfortunately didn't get a chance to leave a note for the car owner. I popped to the local police station and gave the details of the incident along with my information. Got a witness statement through and then once the case was closed a nice letter thanking me as the owner of the car won the case.

Sounds like the insurers are trying to avoid the effort of making the claim. You have an independent witness, CCTV footwage with back up from the supermarket, the registration and description of the incident and vehicle. Short of having the DNA, driving licence and bloody finger print of the driver what more can you realistically do!

Have been for ages. There's a reason I park miles away from anyone else and always reverse in (even though it can make it more difficult to load shopping, being able to see the morons on phones barrelling towards you at breakneck speeds in a car park is worth it)

What insurance company? You have a witness and a reg number - insurance should take that.

£4 will get you the other parties insurance company, ring them direct.
