What has your "friend" been up to?
Discussion
Most Pistonheaders have a “friend” who gets into an endless series of scrapes, brouhahas, and tight spots. Perhaps we all know the same bloke? Anyway, this does not say much for our judgment in choosing our “friends”.
My “friend” has:
- Crashed a Triumph Vitesse into a ditch.
- Allowed another friend to drive an unroadworthy Land Rover in a cloud of smoke two miles on the public highway whilst following at a safe distance.
- Been busted for speeding (and paid up) four times. EDIT: six times. EDIT: eight times
- Been arrested for being cheeky to a policeman.
- Been shaken down for a bribe by French border cops.
- Held at gunpoint by a grumpy Spanish Coastguard.
- Driven without an MOT for two weeks owing to having **** for brains.
- Reversed a brand new BMW into a bollard.
- Shouted rude words at a little old lady in a Honda
etc, etc, etc.

My mate used to have a yamaha raptor 750 quad for his runaround. One damp evening he was riding stupid as per usual lol. As he come round a mini roundabout he tried a bit of drifting but it went horribly wrong. He spun round facing traffic and started rolling backwards and hit a curb at stupidly low speed which tipped him off. I think it was the slowest and most embarassing crash I have ever seen. Ha ha ha ha.
My friend has had a terrible few days -
Friday - reversed into a wheel barrow full of cement, requiring a respray on the rear bumper
Saturday - dropped an old BMW bumper on the bonnet of his car as he's too lazy to move it out of the garage, this required a little elbow grease to get the light scratch out.
Sunday - reversing out of the garage, too lazy to bolt the door back and the wind caught the door, hitting the car on the rear bumper and leaving a load of paint and scratches behind.
New rear bumper time for my mate I think...

My friend shouted at a couple in Tesco's carpark because he recognised their car as the one that was reversed into his the night before.
My friend got involved in a game of "bait the chav", by overtaking and then slowing down after they attempted to block his manoeuvre, then accelerating away when they tried to overtake. My friend maintains that doing 35 in a 60 and then speeding up when someone tries to overtake is a jerk move, and needs to be punished.
My friend was witnessed doing both of these things by an official of the police variety, and was followed for some considerable time after both events.
He is seriously starting to wonder if he should sell his car and possibly be put on medication.

Was offered "anything he wanted" by a female student tenant in lieu of rent. Then made the mistake of starting a thread on PH about it with a pseudonym.

My friend, same age as me, similar car habits.
Written off 3 cars (2 were his)
Blown up 3 cars (Mitsubishi Colt, Saxo VTR + Audi A4)
He now owns my old Primera
That sounds like an actual friend, not a "friend" friend, which I think is the point of this thread.Written off 3 cars (2 were his)

You know, like when people go to the pharmacist for some ointment on behalf of their "friend", not them, oh no...
My friend has parked his MX5 in a ditch, 498 miles from home in rural Scotland. (It was a choice of a head-on with an Astra at 40mph, or take my his chances). Luckily said ditch was half a mile walk from the farm he was staying at with some friends
He's also managed to damage two cars actually >on< his own driveway. Steep slope, release handbrake, oops. Once was unfortunate, twice could be deemed careless.
I'm sure there's other klutziness...
