I.am gutted. A no in the ballot for me.
If you really want one I'm sure there will be plenty available as people look to make a few quid.

Ans as there's so few options I'm sure you'll be able to get the spec you want.

Yes, completed that part, my understanding spec is locked in after the call and placing the completed
order.
I hope I am correct as I am likely to change the colour and transmission wink
Ah sorry my assumption is that was locking it in but your right it’s a bit weird saying it’s not confirmation of order so why bother asking preferences.

No problem, did think it a bit strange, but completed thinking not locked in until confirming order.
Will end up doing a a 180 smile

I don’t get the love for these. I think they’re ok, sure, but never quite understood the level of adoration. But then I think the same about the MX5 and GT86/BRZ. I’ve never been in the Yaris but have driven the other two and found them a little dull. Perhaps the boring roads in North America may have something to do with that.

It's a very different car. And engine.

And to be fair, it lives for the twisties, so yes, it's maybe not suited to your terrain.

Agree, and I don't think any of those cars would really suit America in fairness.

Sounds like its an improvement but an iteration not revolution. The price hike is hard but seems to be in line with where a few of the journalists believed it should be for the Mk1. Im not sure I like the sound of the stiffer set up for our roads though.

Im even more happy that I took delivery of a new Mk1 in november at the origianl list and finance, seems like a bargain now.

As someone who spent almost £2k on new seats and seat rails, a steering wheel extender and rear view mirror mods for his GR yaris to make it comfortable for someone 6"4, I'm interested to hear about this too.
No one ever seems to mention the rear seats in these in reviews. Would yours be remotely usable for kids given your height? Or is it basically a two-seater if you're over six foot?
I am ft and son is 6ft 4in, and wife and dughter 5ft 6in each, do both fit in back comfortably enough for 40 min car journey. So yes, it does work as 4 seater.

This thread has made me look at Autotrader. Some Mk1 cars are up for what the owner must have paid. Around £32k with a couple of thousand miles but one is up for £41k with only 8 miles, kept in a heated garage.

After securing a Duster biggrin new for £10500 in 2021 and selling it 3 years later for £9300 with 18,000 on the clock, it made me stomach paying £25k for a new 695 Abarth Competizione, but £40k odd for Yaris hot hatch.

I paid £33k for a new Mustang GT in 2016, a bargain but a lot of money to me. I think they are £55k now. Car prices are nuts, especially as I'm on exactly the same money now that I was on in 2016 laugh

Imagine then paying £53k for a fully loaded 695 biposto in 2014-15

yikes and I've converted mine to being a Biposto by leaving the rear seats folded, covering them in a blanket and adding a cargo net. Cost me nothing biggrin

I quite like the new interior if i'm honest, kinda reminds me of the 90's Japanese car interiors.

It's a common misconception that just because the GR Yaris is short, it has a short wheelbase.
Now if you look at the car properly, you can see this is far from the truth, wheel the axles/ wheels right at the extremities.
GR Yaris WB = 2560 mm original model
991 WB = 2450 mm ( despite being a longer car)
718 Cayman 2484mm

However the millenials who write a lot of these articles seem to lack automative knowledge so this doesn't surprise me.
Honestly would never have guessed about the wheel base being that long! Initial reaction was surely that can’t be right! I didn’t think you’d get all that stretched out in a Yaris! Looks can be deceptive I guess!
Very deceptive, just got to wait for those lottery numbers now.

A cerbera's wheel base is only 6mm longer than the GRY. I think the GRY is a deceptive looking car. Its the same overall length as my 1971 Beetle but side by side in the garage, there is a vast amount of difference in the wheel bases.

The wheelbase thing surprised me, thought a F56 Jcw was short but even that is 2495mm.
