I believe not, the plus 4 and plus 6 and plus 8 and aero models were mostly build in Aluminium, although they used some wood for some things, but not really contractual things since? I guess the last 20 years or so, those later models plus 4-6 are even pretty good so it seems.

So glad to hear the love for the XK8R as I've just bought one, get it next week. Not a soft top but it'll do! And a 4.2 as I had a 4 litre and loved it and the 5 litre has issues. For me, the 4.2 is the best, reliable, quick enough and fun. I was wondering if I'd done the right thing, now I feel alot better, thanks all
