What happens to the cars when the winner takes the cash... I don't see them relisted as prizes?

Depends on the site, DCG often relist them, sometimes change up the wheels or put a wrap on them.

The majority of cash alternatives are a price offered by a dealer so the car goes to them to sell on. I’ve seen DCG relist them, the red Escort Cosworth has been on before, I didn’t think they offered cash alternatives on them so maybe they even offer cash where it wasn’t in the listing. I suppose it lets them double their money twice on the same car though.

Sometimes I guess the rarer stuff will just be too good to send to a trader.
Like the M3 Touring would go to trade, but the Cossie like above poster said they would just keep it.

Are they getting them slightly cheaper from dealers who cant shift them ? Seen some awful colours on different car comp pages recently.
Quite the opposite really, majority of our M cars are individual colours which come at a premium. It’s a hard balancing act as do two black cars and people moan, do a purple one people moan. Cars and colours won’t always appeal to everyone but we always try to offer an eclectic mix of the highest quality cars available.

Yeh entirely depends on the car for us, we put a lot of time into running around sourcing and viewing cars. If it’s something rare then we tend to keep and redo at a later point. Some of the easier to source stuff will go straight to a dealer as mentioned.

I'm guessing it's like the heavily modified ones. Bit of fun when it's a competition but going in to buy with your own money you'd be thinking of how much you're going to lose on it and/or how much of a pain it'd be to move on in the future.
Good point.
I’d love an RS6, been my dream car for years and through various iterations.

There’s a 2 car comp on 7days ending tonight, an Urban AMG G63 and an RS6. I’d actually go for the G Class plus cash as it’s more subtle than the RS6

So many of the cars are heavily modified. I understand the target market argument but assuming that’s people younger than me surely their insurance is going to be insane enough on a standard RS6 never mind a heavily modified one?

LLF draw at 10pm. i'm not hopeful but i reckon i'd take the cash. I'm suspicous of highly tuned GTR's as a whole and with my luck i'd do a gearset or something else on the drive home.

Dear God of Luck, i promise to donate 5% of the £40k to charity. Thanks.

Sorry lads, that's pretty much sealed the deal now. Thanks for taking part wink

I won an auto-draw on RC last week for some fitness gear, only buy the odd ticket for stuff i'll keep so very happy with that. Had 3 decent wins in the last 20 months. Nothing big ticket car or cash wise though.

RC are the only site I use and probably only £30 ish a month. Happy with that

Sounds like you’re very sensible with it, fair play & congratulations!

5 emails from Rev Comps tonight. Have they always been this obnoxious? Yes I know I can unsubscribe at any time but it’s just overbearing and actually makes me less likely to buy a ticket. I probably buy 4/5 a month

Sent a postal to RC this morning for the motorhome that's just gone up and they've updated the title and description from 4 berth to 6 berth. Hopefully they'll still honour the original wording

What? You'd rather they honour it as a 4-berth rather than 6? That AutoTrail model is only ever a 6-berth. They'll offer what it is, though i'm sure if you really push them they'll rip a couple of mattresses out for you rofl

No they only accept postal entries with the exact wording as advertised as per the t&cs

I suspect its less about the beds and more about them not honouring a postal order because the name of the competition/prize has now changed

Ah bugger, posted mine about 2.30pm with 4 berth. Sent one each for the BMW and Kawasaki Motorbikes so see if they enter those anyway. Had one for the Fireblade entered last night.

Whilst this behaviour isn't likely to persuade you, someone with an addictive personality, who coincidentally are probably their main player base, it will.

I doubt this company is alone in doing this. I think it's this targeted bombardment of texts, emails is what should concern everyone. Even as someone who spends less than £50 a year on these competitions as a bit of wishful fun, I think this is where some sort of regulation is sensible, to protect addictive personality customers from themselves.

I think you are spot on but Revcomps came on here and said they would cut down on the number of emails. They also introduced the tick box when placing an order to stop you being signed up to emails. Others I don't use so can't comment on.

However, It must have hit them in the pocket as they have started bombarding again and have removed the option to opt out of emails when placing an order. So you are opted back in each time regardless of whether you have unsubscribed from the previous email. The option should be there to permanently unsubscribe from any marketing.

Like you say protections need to be in place in this industry to protect vulnerable people such as opt outs and spend limits etc

I've said before that I am sure you have opt in to receive marketing.
Revs when the boxes were showing were already ticked.

Any marketing people on this thread confirm?
