Picked a mark 8 up recently on a reasonable lease deal as I am doing a lot of work miles at the moment.

As others have said, as a do it all daily, it’s a good bit of kit. The screen etc is not the most user friendly but you do get used to it eventually. Other than that there’s not a lot not to like. Special shout out to the seats, which are as comfortable as any I’ve ever sat in.

Will probably have another when my lease runs out.

The biggest issue for me with this latest version, is not how the car looks from the outside, but view from the driver seat, that bloody great screen perched on top of the dash looks like an after thought, there is just no symmetry. It's as though someone just thought, we'll stick a tablet here? I feel too much emphasis has been put on this touch screen and no thought has gone into designing the dash as a whole. The MK7.5 in my opinion, was much better design. Bring back buttons, switches and knobs.

I sat in an 8.5 today, the screen looks bad in photos, but sat in the drivers seat it doesn’t look out of place, it actually seems much smaller in the flesh.

God I soooooo hate ll these massive screens.
And will it come with the new EU specified speed limiter, just to make your enjoyment complete?
Nah, for me, new cars leave me cold I'm afraid, too much political interference from people intent on ruining any pleasure we once got from driving.

lucky for me i have the mk7.5 estate r on a 67 plate , fmdsh and only done 54k , i been driving for over 40 years with a clean licence but when i bought the golf two week later i got a speeding fine with 3 points of my licence , it shows you how good the golf is but installed a nextbase road cam so i wont be speeding anymore .
