More on that Dutch Octane Scramble 03:
The 5.7 litre Lamborghini Diablo is a big phat symbol of 90s Italian muscle.
On the other end of the spectrum is this Daihatsu powered Mini hotrod.
This humble Porsche 912 was originally not painted bright red. The now owner bought it with an urge to bring it back to spec, and used a cloth and a can of thinner in the process.
The Fiat 124 Spider by Abarth is a winner in every category.
Superb looking wheels and rallye add-ons may not be too pretty, but for us enthusiasts they appeal to the max.

Last bits of the 'Giulia 60 years' meeting:
Pretty full yard, and not only with Giulia. Loving it!
Best colour on a 105-series? I beg to differ but this looks the part in my book.
I really adore these wheels. The 105 series Coupe (1300 and 1600 GT Junior, 1750 and 2000 GT Veloce) never fail to bring my childhood memories alive. These were the cool cars of the 70s.
Longest wheelbase in the 105 series are the Berlina 1750 and 2000. Bertone design cool.
Certainly not the prettiest dash ever. Interesting time warp quality though.

Early May 2023 aircooled La Baraque meet up.
So, what's this all about then?
Pocket hotrod with twopot power peaks at 30 mph: great fun at a local C&C.
Plenty of very well cared for Volkswagen Transporters.
The usual abundance of VW Beetle is a feast to the eye and ear.
There's always an odd one out. Owner found this trike, bought it a week ago before he brought it to this meeting.

Alfa Romeo workshop tour: legge 1 at specialist workshop Arese Trade led by Eric Violier.
Gorgeous early 50s 1900 CSS is almost ready for the 2023 Mille Miglia.
A good one will set you back between 200 and 300k euros.
It's details like these which make 50s, 60s and early 70s car so irresistible. The 105-series is packed with this stuff.
Lovely Sprint 1600 is a regular when I organise a run.
Even under the bonnet are hidden jewels for the eye.

More of that delightful looking Alfa Romeo GTV 2000:
Perfect colour brings out the very best in the GT Veloce lines.
Rear slightly bend to the tarmac adds to the stance.
Lots of glass adds to the fantastic allround vision.
Practical inside with easy seats, nuff headroom and legroom, great shifter, big ashtray and handy box to put your keys, phone and sunglasses.
Snake eats kid, and no one is offended...

Random, from the vault: 1975 Porsche 930 and 1986 BMW 635 CSi
Mark Wegh trusted me this customer car for a RS Porsche Magazine repo. After a two hour drive the four box lost all gears but second. With a lump in my stomach I drove the 930 back. "I'm happy you broke it. The new customer would have though we did a bad job."
Phew!

May 27 2023: Eric Violier Arese Trade & Van Neerijnen Alfa Romeo workshop visit.
Happy faces when Eric explains the engine room.
Parts and parts. It's safe to say a 105-series car is in good hands here.
Detail of Frank's gorgeous 2000 GTV.
I love the patina of old parts: airbox and double carbs here.
This is everything a driver needs: eyes on the road and proper dials to check stuff.
After an 80 minutes drive our Alfa Romeo group landed at the Van Neerijnen Alfa Romeo yard. Yellow cars!

Spoiling you lot with this gorgeous 1972 Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000 build:
Quick drive to Kasteel de Haar, near Haarzuilens village.
Spectacular Verde Oliva metallizzato compliments the Giugiaro shapes.
I love the rear which push the tyres firmly to the tarmac.
Inside it's heaven as well: for both driver and passenger seats offer space and a great view of what's going on.
In my eye and mind early GTV Alfas are the cream of the crop: chief mechanic Gino did a pretty good job here.

More Octane Scramble:
Errr, yes. This is a Ferrari 250 by Boano. Rare as hens teeth and only 88 Low Roofline cars were made. Big bucks next to a mid 50s Alfa Romeo Giulietta Berlina and an 80s Volvo.
Mega buck and fully restored to spec: 1.2M would be my guess...
Cute Fiat 850 Spider and now I want one.
Fiat Dino still is a hidden gem. One of these had the 2 litre and the other the 2.4: Spider is a pricey affair but a coupe can be picked up for under a tonne.
MGA: it's small but a surprisingly good driver!

Rare Puma GTS for Onschatbare Klassieker Magazine.
Maybe the best guise for a Beetle? Fantastic drive and Brazilian a gem.
Lightweight 80 ps street racer is all you need to have fun: torque and aircooled sound adds to the experience.
This car got a full overhaul and original bits were used.
A bit of an Italian seat and a familiar four box: I got the hang of it afer a few curves.
Want one? You'll need to search to find a good one. About 30-40k euros is perfect 60s/70s Beetle money.

Daf, once made in Holland. Legendary compact with unique CVT and Italian design.
A unique 1962 Daf 750 pick-up, reportedly the only one in Europe. At the time, 800 of them were made and, as far as we know, only three of them remain; one of them in Europe, this one.
This little Daf did nineteen years as a gardener's servant. Then it needed a thorough restoration. Finding the necessary parts was difficult and it took ten years to find all the parts. The refurbishment itself took a year and a half. Then the car took a trip across America on Route 66.
This 1971 Daf 33 combi was the mainstay of a house painter until 2013.
Description of the collection, now housed in the Metropole Druten collection since 2021

Concours d'Elegance Soestdijk 2022 > This year the formula is changed and focus will be on super cars: nah...
Can't tell if this is an AC Ace or an AC Shelby Cobra. Looks like an early one to me.
In my eye the Salamone desigend Ferrari 275 (1964-1968) has to be the best looking 60s GT. I'd like to do a back-to-back with the 350 and 400 GT Lamborghini entries. Just give me the call.
When it comes to prewar cars Bugatti made among the finest looking touring coupes. I especially adore one with lots of patina, like this beauty.

Great memories: Alfa Romeo workshop tour last spring
Great built and perfect fast road spec GTV.
I have a massive soft spot for details like this.
Ouch, the stance...
Very pretty early 70s GTV 2000 at homebase.
Never saw extra lights like these: nice understatement.
FWD Spider in the much desired Gallo: the 916 series gets some beating because it's a marmite car. But not for those who ever drove one.

Gijs van Lennep Classic: start in De Bilt city
Back lit Alfa Romeo Giulia
Ocra on this Alfa Romeo GT Veloce looks almost yellow in the bright morning sun
One can never have enough light...
Ferrari nailed in back in the early 60s. But then came Lamborghini. Very tidy 1967 330 GT 2+2.
