I would get used to it but I really don’t like that dash. Surely from a company so on its game and the rest of the car so impressive they could have come up with something less Amstrad
Agree. Really not good enough.
I thought eh dashboard on mine was absoklutely fine, nothing much wrong with it. Although there were visibility issues between rear view mirror and top of the infotainment screen I would prefer the old one to the new one.

As someone who spent almost £2k on new seats and seat rails, a steering wheel extender and rear view mirror mods for his GR yaris to make it comfortable for someone 6"4, I'm interested to hear about this too.
No one ever seems to mention the rear seats in these in reviews. Would yours be remotely usable for kids given your height? Or is it basically a two-seater if you're over six foot?

There's a lot of talk about the price hike, but to me that just reflects that we still haven't got our heads around post-Covid inflation.

The linked story from 2020 quotes a price of £33495 for a Circuit Pack car. The BoE Inflation Calculator tells us that would equate to £41,253 today. So in real terms it's £3k more expensive, for a car which might apparently be sold in more limited numbers.

I expect the real comparison won't be applicable for many until the realistic cost of getting into the new model is determined after those who are flipping have taken their cut. But you are correct about the inflation.
Perhaps the real question is what has been japans inflation rate…based on medium term cars should have been getting cheaper

I still absolutely love the idea of the GR Yaris. Harry M did a few simple mods to address the mirror issue plus being vertically challenged I doubt I'd have the issues that a lot of people mentioned. However, I think car number 3 would have to be a Golf R or something of that ilk. big enough to take ski's etc.

My kids never went in mine, I think if my kids were still babies/toddlers then it would have been fine but forget having anyone needing any sort of leg room.

Autocar said this and it's accurate -

The boot is pitiful, room for 3 shopping bags and even that's a stretch.

Exactly what is it that you are implying and please don't let it be that the comparison to your own mentality as being the equivalent to a child's bares some form of relationship to pedophilia on my behalf as that really won't look good for you, will it?
Blimey, he’s getting weirder

In other news, the car seems to be even better so credit to Toyota!

The boot really is small.

I had to fold the seats flat for a single large suitcase.

Would it still work as a two plus one? I've had a few small cars where, even though the seat behind the driver is obviously unusable for passengers, there was just enough room for two to sit one behind the other in relative comfort the other side. I expect that this would be enough for many.

I’ve done a 2hr stint through Germany with a 3rd adult behind the passenger to get them to an airport they had no complaints but it was mainly autobahn.

Seat lowering kit and mirror raise sorts out the main issues in the original GRY. £600.
Mine is heading to String Theory in a few weeks to add their adjustable spring kit.
I think the mk1 will then be pretty much perfect.

I declined the offer to join the ballot, don’t like the interior changes or the front bumper (despite its functional advantages).
Will be an amazing car to drive if you are lucky enough to get one!

Yep. It’s got a long wheelbase and a wide track, and drives like it.

Interesting that the spring rate has increased… I’m a fan of generally stiffer springs in road cars.

Mk1 will always be better because it doesn’t have an ISA system built in. Not Toyotas fault of course, and you may say you can turn it off, which is a multi press pain on every start. But it’s only an ‘over the air’ update away from not being able to be turned off some time soon ….

It depends if you have ‘most recent first’ set up or not. The first comment is at the bottom for me!

Agreed. I think it's the compact shape that suggests the wheelbase is short, as you say, it's not.
That's one for the facts you you can't believe are true thread.

Would never have guessed that one.

Wonder what percentage will autos?

Surely most people who want one have got one by now.

I'm undecided.

It reminds me a bit of the new M2 which seemed to get almost universal dislike yet I think it looks great and is only getting better.

It's divisive but wouldn't surprise me if it's way more desirable than the old model in the future.

I remember getting "told off" on here once for calling it a short wheelbased car too! getmecoat I think because it is such a small car...you just naturally see it as having a short wheelbase in fairness. Plus it doesn't take much to upset GR Yaris owners either, and they are among the most precious owners of a car that I've ever come across(on here anyway).

I can't stop laughing at the dash in this to be honest, however I'd still really like a go in it though. driving
