I think Pistonheads is a great site, but a very odd user community at times.
You have people who LOVE to slag off anything fast and interesting from a manufacturer in the 2020s, because "it won't be as good as the VH platform Astons, or the 458/F12" etc
Many outside observers would have spotted the madness a couple of days ago in the response to the Datsun 240Z restomod, which received stunning amounts of adulation. I suspect the general population's view of people who'd rather blow £100k on a done-up 40-year-old Nissan rather than something new is already pretty dim. The Victor, from which it looks like they have nicked styling cues paid homage to, was much better looking.
They've backed themselves into a corner here - presumably they've generated a lot of "I want one of those" interest from the Victor, but have also committed to the Victor being a one-off. So they have to come up with something sufficiently different to maintain the Victor's unique status whilst also being similar enough to satisfy those who've said they'll but down big chunks of money to buy one. pycraft said:

What's going on with the exhausts in this rendering? Not that I care, if I had the means then I'd love one in a slightly less garish colour - I love the look of that rear spoiler (which reminds me of the spoiler on another car that I can't place - anyone have any ideas?)

It also does make you wonder if they should be making a more standard model along these lines, to run alongside the DB12 and Vantage. Something like this as the new DBS/Vanquish would give a 3-model lineup (plus DBX) with the coupes having clear and distinct identities - something that hasn't happened at the top end for a while.
I think this looks awful, it's over-designed and everything is exaggerated. The wheels, wing, grille, exhausts maximised and just look like a kid's fantasy car. Aston are doing anything to get more money in by just re-skinning models they already have and selling them to rich collectors.
