If it drives as good as it looks, and is properly screwed together this looks a great car. I will hold off though, until the ICE version appears (hopefully) in a couple of years time. Then it should be an affordable MX5 beater!
There won't be an ICE version

Even if there were, with a chassis designed for batteries and motor, it wouldn't be better than an MX5, it would, most likely, be absolutely terrible!

Think how many older Z4s and SLKs you see, I cannot remember the last time I saw a brand new one.
I don't know about the Z4, but they stopped making the SLK (and its successor, the SLC) a few years ago.

They still sell the Z4 but it's like this these days

rather than

Where is started. Another "sports car" that's so massive and numb it needs over 300bhp to be remotely exciting. You do see them occasionally.

The products people buy reflect how they feel, and I don't think our society is in a place where people have the self assured confidence to want a roadster or convertible and open themselves up to the world, it's all mobile pill boxes with uber aggressive styling and dark dark dark interiors to give people a mobile "safe space" in an unhappy and paranoid time.

First review I've read of the UK version of the car, and other than the awful LKA as per the MG4, it looks brilliant for the money, especially when you compare the crap stellantis, smart and the like are coming out with.

Will wait a year to see how 2nd hand prices look but might be time to upgrade the Mr2.

I've registered to see an example once one reaches deepest, darkest Suffolk.

I'd be seriously tempted. Except for one thing. Those Lambo doors really put me off.

I worry when the writer of that article refers to the Porsche straight-6 engine and "the Cyberster shares its headline 0-62mph time with the deified McLaren F1. Yes, really, for £50k" . Well, £59,995 actually. To be fair you'll not get that 0-62mph time anywhere else for £60k

Don't hold your breath for an ICE version.

Be a bargain if it had a German badge on it, right?

Only a 125mph top speed with over 500bhp? That won't make you very competitive on the M69 will it?! hehe

I thought that was a bit disappointing!

Would be keen to see 0 - 100MPH and 1/4 mile times to see how it does, a lot of these EVs have absolutely killer launches but are a bit "oh" on a roll or at big boy speeds, although this one avoids that issue by not actually being able to do big boy speeds.

That said if you drove it as a 500bhp roadster should be driven you'd probaby have 30 miles of range hehe

The same car for the same money from Germany would certainly have a higher value proposition for most yes. Personally I wouldn't want a Chinese State MG if it was free.

Let’s be honest it’s probably fair to say there is a reason most people in the real world actually prefer German cars and why the Germans can charge more

Yes and I'd imagine this to be pretty quick to a 100mph and the quarter mile for sure. Although it could get a bit embarrassing when something like a Mini Cooper S flies past you at 125mph though I reckon! biggrin

Is this really a serious 2024 scenario on this tiny island of ours?
Who the hell drives at 125mph+ anymore.
If the top speed is a genuine concern, good luck holding onto your licence and possibly your freedom.
