May have been posted already (apologies) but this is not a Toyota Corolla.

Quite. Just like this is not a RAV4.

As i understand it Toyota did it to increase their sales in india (where suzuki is a market leader) and over here Suzuki did it for the hybrid system. Happy to be corrected thought.

But this is not a Suzuki Baleno (which is probably a car worthy of this thread for many people)
Mazda have got in on the act with the Mazda2 hybrid

The Mazda 2 is a weird one. I understand why Mazda sell it. But They still sell that alongside their own still named Mazda 2 that shares nothing with this car.

I suppose it’s going to people who just want a cheap small car and maybe like or live near a Mazda dealer. But it’s seems cheaper from Toyota and you get a better warranty off dealers who will be servicing and repairing them everyday.

I wonder if there is more incentive for sales people to sell one or the other.

I'm actually very close to ordering one of these as my next vehicle.

It's not exactly exciting but it's well spec'd, reliable and economical!

I'd thought one is a hybrid and the other isn't, hence they're sold alongisde each other smile

I think that it's cost saving on both sides. The Yaris is hybrid only and the Mazda is petrol only. The Mazda 2 badged Yaris is here so that Mazda can sell a hybrid. The Toyota badged Mazda was in America so they could sell a petrol manual (1.5 6 speed) small hatchback (or saloon).

This is not a Corsa, Adam, or Viva. This is an Agila. WTF Vauxhall how many small cars do you need.
Ah now this I did know about! There are actually a couple of generations. I've no idea which segment it was supplying though.
The segment of people who do 27mph in a NSL.
My mum had one, her last car before giving up driving aged 81.
She did 42mph everywhere...

No they are not the same car with one hybrid and one not. They are completely different cars. They don’t share a single component and one is designed and built entirely by Toyota.

Mazda don’t have a hybrid small car but need one for various reasons for the European market.

Wheels I didn't know existed. An Australian market equivalent to the Ronal teddy wheels, on the Australian Mazda 121 (the 90's 4 door saloon bubble version) there was a factory option for Koala wheels.

I love how they say 'based on the Captur' when what they mean is, they took the Renault badges off and added some Mitsubishi ones.

Apologies for the fb marketplace link….

Ford Anglia Torino - never heard or seen one before. Can definitely tell it’s a Michelotti design though!

I assume the design work consisted of asking a couple of the coachbuilders to stick an HA Viva front on a 105E and then nipping off to the nearest bistro! It's not a bad looking car, in many ways, but not an improvement on Dagenham's effort.
