Whatever happened to bait cars? Would be like shooting fish in a barrel in some areas.

Not enough police available, they’re all in scamera vans being brave.

What's the point in buying another £50k high performance car of any make/model it's just going to give you exactly the same problem?
Fast Audis and bmw are popular with thieves as there’s a ready market for the top end parts they strip off them for scum bag lower models .

Not according to several ex-LC500 owners on here!

Really, any links? I adore these things, money allowing I'd seriously debate against a last shape AM V8V (would probably lean to the AM, they will appreciate, 100% sure)

Of course, OT. OP, the person/people who 'took' your car belong at the bottom of a canal, with weights tide around their ankles.

Isn’t using bait cars a form of entrapment?

Sorry to hear this OP.

Reminds me of ten years ago when one of the lads bought a new S3, one of the lads (we all knew each other IRL) said “it will get nicked”, unfortunately he was proven right shortly after.

Fast Audi’s are rife for being nicked, it’s a real shame.

Yes but they should have C4 linked to the ignition for maximum effect.

I didn't think there was such a thing in English law.

I'd prefer to call it a trap, pure and simple.

Brett’s thread here

Also a bit more info here

There was also another owner/LC discussion thread on here who cited thefts as a reason for selling but I cannot remember the posters name off the top of my head I am afraid.

I don’t actually see any problem with it. If someone cannot keep their greedy mitts off other people’s stuff then so be it. Just because it’s a hair car makes no odds; they still intended to deprive someone else of it.

How’s it any different from these paedo hunter types? Surely that’s entrapment too?

It's such a shame people have to think like this. I do the same with my expensive e-bikes. If anyone's hanging around, I won't ride back up the driveway.

Polonium 210 would be less messy.

Would be like a rat taking it back to the nest.

Thread update:
At around 4am on Sunday morning, my house was broken into, keys taken and RS6 stolen. Fortunately, I think, the thieves thought that I was home and didn't ransack the rest of the house. However, I was actually camping in a field, out of mobile reception range and didn't get any tracker alerts until Monday. The tracking company, (Global Telemetrics) have been fantastic and had recovered the vehicle within 20 minutes of me calling in. The police have been fairly useless as I haven't heard anything from them to date and have had to chase them if they wanted to do any forensics on the fake number plates used.

The RS6 is now back in my possession and stored securely at my girlfriends house. I believe the damage is cosmetic as they ripped a load of internal panels off trying to find the tracker. I need to get the panels refitted, the key fob re-coded and the car checked over. I'm then going to chop it in for something else. It's way too high profile for where I live.

So, an amazing car that I really enjoyed for the 6 months I had it, but not worth the risk. Unfortunately it's dented my confidence on what to get next. I'm gravitating towards a 2+2 of some flavor around £50K. Any suggestions?
Sorry to hear that.

It was only a matter of time unfortunately.

Liphook in Hampshire is a sleepy medium sized village and quite affluent - the last 6 weeks has had a spate of break ins to cars and businesses, thefts of mopeds and 125's. The thieves are young lads on mopeds - they do not wear helmets - just full face balaclavas. I have reported when I have seen them to the PCSO who is supposed to be assigned to the village and not had any reply - LOADS of people have reported to 101 and we have shared crime numbers etc. The lads have been traced to a neighbouring village but so far we have not seen any action at all and the lads continue to be about very frequently. I can see now how the RS6 theft happens and then the Police do very little.
Bordon/Whitehill?
Oddly, I have just seen an update that the Police have just made an arrest - 15 yr old from Bordon, charged with aggravated vehicle theft and possession of an offensive weapon plus riding uninsured etc....I hope he gives up his co-horts.

15 is very young!

There's several decent cars on my estate. The most nickable probably being a new Cayenne but also a RS5, RS7, BMW iX and a Discovery 4 among others.

The selfish herd mentality in me is happy they're around because as long as they are the scrotes are less likely to break into my house.

Sad state of affairs but it's the society we live in.
