Ok I read that as part ex'd if for my wife
Even worse, how do you part ex to your wife?
I’ve never had an Alfa and they say you should try them once, so I would PX my wife for a nicely looked after petrol one.

Very good looking car, not too sure about this particular colour though.

I'd be happy with that for a commuter tool.

Always liked the rear but the nose... oh dear.

I've got one of these and am a serial Alfisti.

I have a 1750TBI Quadrifoglio Verde in Rosso Maranello. It has 184,000 miles from new and has been meticulously cared for.

It uses no oil, no coolant, and is totally standard. It only needed its first set of lower control arms at 170k (beat that 937 platform!).

These are utterly reliable. The only criticism I can give it is the original suspension is now feeling its age and requires replacement; currently eyeing up a total rebuild with Bilstein B4 and Eibach.

The Cloverleaf is obviously the one to go for, but admittedly won't suit everyones budget. Its ridiculously quick (no small car needs 240HP or 340Nm) and makes a lovely intake sound (contrary to what all the reviews said at the time).

Keep it standard, change the oil well in advance of the schedule, and she will work forever.

These have some appeal. But it's a nuisance that the facelifted Cloverleaf is auto only.

You follow her plan, she gives you £1200 and a Suzuki splash, she gets the giulietta... Funnily enough I still have to maintain it.

Having had a couple of 147's when this came out I thought it looked like a girls car. So never bought one.

Went for a GT, which was a much better choice.

Good little runabout and as always a very good write up and tongue in cheek banter smile

"Suzuki splash", is that a type of water sport?

Pistonheads is a forum, barely anyone on here is under 50!

This trope of school age people posting probably only just about made sense 25 years ago when PH was about middle aged men in TVRs hehe

The combination of a low mileage diesel, and an EML light would have me worried. I don't know this engine, but presumably it's not immune to DPF, EGR, and turbo issues, any of which could be an expensive fix.
Petrol for simplicity at this price (says the diesel shed owner...).

I've been very pleased with my QV 1750, this is in Launch Edition spec, when they first fitted the 4Cs gearbox and engine, and cheaper than the mk 7.5gti I was looking to buy.

I love the spec with the horse shoe wheels, and black body parts, also the colour!

Goes very well!

Sorry, not wanting to be pendatic but:

singular = Alfista
plural = Alfisti

Therefore you're a serial "Alfista" - and all the better for it too!

By the same measure do you wake up wondering how you can piss on the pleasure of others that day?? Cheer up. It's just a bit of fun.

184,000, awesome, after an older Alfa I was also impressed with Giulietta suspension no longer being a service item smile Mine was fine into 100k with the 1.4. I do miss it sometimes and the new owner seems to be racking up the miles.

Have you got a Readers Thread on yours? One thing I didn't like was the headlights not doing much for visibility in the dark smile

Nice motor though due to the issues that may or may not be present I wouldn't go near it with a 90 foot pole. The front wheel that someone remarked being really messed up is just a bit of kerb rash which could easily be repaired. It's cheap though for a reason I reckon.

I have the 140 version. It's a great car to drive and yes it does 60 mpg. Had a couple of niggly problems but nothing serious. Fitted a catch can to keep the intake clean. Have 150k on the clock, still going strong.

What’s the difference between the 138hp and 167hp diesels – hardware or software?

My sister had one of these, there was always something wrong with it. Two stand out things I remember about it were having to remove a front wheel and arch liner just to access the oil filter and spending hours one miserable evening dismantling the front of the car to change the headlight bulbs. It did drive well to be fair though and had a fantastic gear change.
