BMW M you tube channel released this last night. No idea why an old bloke is taking selfies sat in the car.

Was really excited for the potential of this.
Loved the F90 M5 and consider it peak real world.
This I think this has missed the brief and is just a fast car and not an M car. Down on power I honestly expected more. The weight is killer I’ve already watched a review on track by BMW blog who have actually driven it and even they’ve said there is no hiding it. Electric range is poor should have been double.
Bit disappointed in all honesty but suppose this is the direction cars are going.

Since when were Black and Tan seats a thing? Pick one, but not both at the same time.
I don’t think time will be kind to this generation of 5. It just looks awkward and the cost cutting inside is unforgivable at this price point. And as for the weight…how is it justified over the previous gen?
That was my main takeaway from the article, tbh A green car with tan seats is awesome IMO, as a rule - ruined it!I don’t think time will be kind to this generation of 5. I remember reading all the same posts when the e60 m5 came out
Timed change get with it
Also the weight….. it’s a four door luxury sedan, with the power and chassis components you don’t feel it like cars of 20 years ago
Yes, well, you Americans are used to heavy everything.Timed change get with it

The new M5 weighs the same as a Transit and two fat builders.
Uhhh nope: kerb weight of a new Transit is less than 1700kg: you'll need THREE fat builders and half a pallet of cement to get close to this thing!!!!vincenz said:
I have dude, it’s progress, whether we like it or not ??
I suspect that is to conflate progress with "change." By the sound of it this is slower, dynamically less able and entertaining, worse looking and no more practical than the outgoing model. Progress how?The X351 was probably the last time a big saloon was built by a team that *really* concerned itself with restraining weight, though the G30 CS was also a commendable effort. Mass manufacturers have realised that the consumer simply doesn't care; doesn't help sales so don't waste time/money chasing it.

I haven’t been a fan of the how the current gen 5 series looks, but I like this. I think it should have been fully electric though, and I’m amazed they bothered to keep the switchable 4WD!
Agreed, but most EVs are still a bit st, especially BMWs. It does feel like the engine is just about hanging in there.Still, it looks awful. At least the e-Tron GT and Taycan are easy on the eye.
