Well just to complete the story my Z4M was £370 last year. Renewal came through at £434.99, but I got a quote for £419. Sure enough my current insurer matched it, but that's still a £49 or 13% increase. frown

Just proves they’re seeing what they can get away with.

My quite modified Fiesta ST has gone from £505 last year to £670 this, seems not unduly bad considering what others have seen in terms of increases.

The renewal quote on my Boxster was £353 up from £266 the previous year.

I tried to get a cheaper quote but the nearest was over £400 so I thought I'd let the policy auto renew whilst I was away. When I got home I wondered why the money hadn't been taken only to find to 'auto renew' you had to go onto the website and press the button! When I tried to get the price I was told I had to resubmit a quote which came out at nearly £500. Quotemehappy I was not.

I then went back to comparison sites and eventually got it for £483. I tried Adrian Flux given they don't use comparsion sites. That came out at £1,480. And they had the balls to ring me back the next day to see if they could get me a better price. What like knock off a grand bandit

Renewal notice on the Ghibli came through. £50 less than last year for the same cover. The best price I can get on a price comparison site is £150 more than my renewal price. I was expecting a significant hike this year.

I actually had a nice surprise; mike has gone down for my Z4.

It’s probably the first time that I’ve not gone with the cheapest option but then best reviewed one and added a few extras and it’s still almost half of my renewal.

I’ve just paid £328 for fully comp insurance with protected NCB. I’ll get £38 cash back, so £290 all in. I’ll take that although I’m in the daft situation that my insurance is quite a bit less than the VED.

If you look in my PH garage - the VED on that lot is significantly more than the total insurance. The SL and SLK come to more than £1100 on their own. mad

Just had my Admiral Multicar renewal quote in:

For three cars it's gone up 78% overall from £1,287 to £2,295, they've also increased the compulsory excess on each by ~50%.

Absolute piss take. Time to shop around.
Admiral multi car is a total bait and switch scam where they tease you in with a cheap quote then ramp it up the next year.

The annoying thing is then you are stuck with re-quoting all the cars with other insurers around the same date, making it even less convenient.

I only have 2 cars but whenever I've tried multi car quotes one has been competitive and the other has been stupidly expensive, so I just keep separate policies for them.

Given my nephews experience with Admiral I'd avoid them like the plague!

Totally baffled by coop car insurance. They seem to have have several totally independent 'wings'.

Coop Renewal was up 10% since last year. Logged in and got a quote for a new policy with them rather than a renewal - price jumped another 20%.

Went on the meerkat, identical details. Guess who's cheapest, at 20% below the renewal figure... Coop 'ecoinsurance', also with lower excess figures.

Yes, by £25 (on a £360 policy). Quite relieved.

Just been watching a YT video by an American couple who spent 8 months in the UK/Europe recently and they did a return video on what now seemed odd in the US to them. She observed that in the year they were away her car insurance doubled with virtually no driving. So not just here.

Just had my renewal through.

It's gone down by £42 from £313 to £271

Probably won't even bother shopping around for that.
