Read my post. The bit where I say it was originally priced at 45k.
So over 50% less than that- admittedly lovely - MK1 and why I was surprised that you stated the 6.3 was "silly money". wink
So you're sure the same advert for the same car was 45k one minute and 87k the next? scratchchin

Those 6.3 Mercs were one of my favourite cars when £10-20k. Not remotely interested at today's prices. An old-school Mercedes mechanic friend (i.e. apprentice in the 60s through to senior sales in the 90s) says he never saw one that worked properly.

For that reason, and given the barmy asking prices of 6.3s these days, I much prefer the idea of a 3.5 with some mods like the Mk1 Jag Loon posted. For me - simply bolt on a supercharger; the existing nice intake manifold and low compression ratio make it an ideal candidate; add an ECU for both spark and fuel; slightly lower/stiffer springs, a little brake upgrade and hey presto - a nice old car that is a bit less floaty and has a bit of oomph for fun (and outside-lane motorway-dominating in true German fashion hehe )

yes This how I look at it - as a value proposition many older cars no longer appeal due to bonkers inflation. A nice restomod type deal with selected updates for usability is nice but finding the sweet spot is proving ever harder these days.

Sounds great. You can't beat a supercharged Jag.

If your weather is as pants as ours just now, then Henry's Geneva vid is worth a watch. Nice bit on restomod RUF and the very first
(rebuilt) Zonda they used for crash testing. Do like Henry's take on things.

Sticky.

Opel was petite like an old Elan and equally lovely.

Have to get down to Haynes at Easter with Miss E24man who is turning into a petrolhead at just 11.

Haynes museum photos look great. It’s only an hour down the road from us now. We went once last year and there was a great turn out - completely eclectic mix of all sorts. We must go again this year.

And I other news (@jeremy !!) the DB7 is out of hibernation now. A few little gremlins to sort but I’m really feeling the love for it. I was thinking of selling it but having driven it the last 3 days I think I’ll give it a good service and use it for a few months. It’s such a proper car. Bizarrely it reminds me of my dad’s old Rover SD1 - in a really good way!!

(Sorry for rubbish photo!)

I’m surprised I haven’t received more flak for that comment!!! smile

First proper car I drove was dad’s SD1 (manual 3500 of course!). I remember it feeling a bit heavy, powerful and a gearbox that requires deliberate movement. All similar in the DB7. But yeah not that similar overall.

I was chatting to Bamford Rose about their upgrades which sound interesting... 500+bhp. Haven’t talked pricing to them yet!!!

I'd be talking to them about chassis and suspension upgrades before a power increase. smile

It seemed to struggle a little containing the standard 420bhp .... driving
