Subaru Traviq, a rebadged Vauxhall Zafira.

The Volkswagen City Golf, a Canadian only model based on the MK4 and made from 2007-2010, and is a mishmash of MK4 and MK5 parts.

There are a whole bunch of interesting convertible versions of Japanese luxury cars that only existed in the US.

Like this USDM Infiniti M30 / JDM Nissan Leopard ragtop. They were shipped to the US as hardtops, then ASC cut the roofs off in California. They have a cult following in Japan as the rarest version of a popular coupe. I never knew they made a convertible until reading an article online recently.

That cuts a pretty sharp dash. Like it.

Not usually my thing, but I actually like it.

For me too. The company closed in 1934, which makes this car even more of an oddity:

"Jean-Albert Grégoire founded Tracta in France in 1926. They built some beautiful, rare, front-wheel drive luxury cars up through 1934. The company may have closed before the war, but Grégoire showed off this highly-styled Sport Cabriolet in 1955 with a body by French coachbuilder Chapron."

Here's a car I didn't know existed until 9 months ago.

a Suzuki Jimny SJ.

WAIT, I'VE SEEN ONE OF THOSE BEFORE...

Up until 9 months ago, I'd have said that too.

3 cylinder 2 stroke engine! WTAF - naturally I bought it for its weirdness. They built these right up until 1987!

We had lots of these in Nigeria late 70s early 80s ... they beat the bigger stuff hands down due to their light weight.

Bringatrailer sometimes brings up unusual stuff

For example this one, I never knew that:
- Avantis were still being built in 1990
- as 4 door
- they managed to sell something like that eek
What an insult to the early Avantis that were quirky but elegant.

They're absolutely awesome!

It's coming into winter here, I'm sure to get it real deep in snow. Maybe rescue a few land rovers...

Tracta may have closed down in 1934 but these cars were marketed as Gregoire, a new company. The caption to the photo is incorrect in mentioning Tracta. Power was by Hotchkiss - only 10 built.

I knew of the car, the fact that the Italian’s painted it beige is what surprises me.

I had the dubious pleasure of driving a Perodua Myvi courtesy car recently. Apparently a Daihatsu built in Malaysia under licence.

I didn't know they'd built anything since the Nippa was launched as the UK's cheapest car around the turn of the century.

140 mph on the dial for a 1.3 automatic Perodua felt a little optimistic... laugh
