On balance shedding has been brilliant in my experience, only one breakdown (stuck front caliper) and just keeping on top of general maintenance along the way.
I am completely converted these days also, so liberating to just not care one bit, but still trundle along in a reliable clunker, when looks can be so deceiving - I find myself when looking at classified at the cheap stuff, dents or bumps dont put me off at all now - more the better, as means I can carry on that look and not worry about adding anymore myself but more importantly from other people!! biggrin
Totally agree, mine has a few battle scars and hardly gets washed and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I can park it anywhere, in any street and not feel any anxiety. It's so anonymous.

How's your Vectra doing? I was thinking that a Vectra could be a suitable replacement for my civic as I could do with a bigger boot, however I personally prefer a Mondeo in terms of driver enjoyment so that may be it's replacement in the future.

Heartily recommend a Mondeo The early Mk 4 2007/08/09 are the best. They take high mileage really well a lot of them have been motorway queens. Parts are cheap, and stuff is (compared to many) easy to fix. I have 185K on my TDCI and does not miss a beat...

Yeah, Vectra is still trundling along anonymously, haven't washed it since last October, has a lovely gradient now on the sides...and the wheels have had a cheap refurb in "shadow chrome anthracite brake dust dirt" biggrin

Only done 300 miles this week, mileage is nearly 157,000, it's just doing its thing, big boot, cheap to fix and built like a tank in all honesty - MOT as mentioned earlier is in two months, hoping to keep it another year, I just don't worry about it at all!

How did you decanter that to pour it in?
I empty 20l into 4 x 5l empty oil containers. You do save old oil containers don’t you?

The top 3rd of a 4 pint milk container works as a good funnel.

Hauling some big ladders this evening, for some gutter cleaning, on 757 Mansion.

May I recommend Bilt Hamber Touch-less... 2% dilution in a pump sprayer (25% in snowfoam cannon) coat the car, leave 5-10 minutes but don't let dry, rinse with pressurewasher and hey presto, sparkling car, zero effort wink

I think driving around in the summer with your car looking that is a bit foolish and likely to draw unwanted attention from the plod.

Didn't think it looked that dirty tbh, it's all legal anyway so they will only be wasting their time smile

But yeah, I do think the old girl deserves a scrub

The police pull you over for a dirty car, if they do they deserve to be sacked. Give over.

Good luck! My Citroen C2 passed yesterday. The third year in a row with no advisories too!
